A swap between Carlos Sainz Jr and Vettel has been mentioned by some pundits. However, Seidl has said he is satisfied with the present duo. Unless Vettel is desperate to stay in F1, going to Renault would be a massive stepdown for him. But I can see Ferrari calling Ricciardo, who certainly wants to escape his purgatory at Renault.
You are as biased against Renault as you are against French Gendarmes, they will surprise us this year...if racing goes ahead.
Exactly. I can even imagine him sitting there on the grandstand shaking hands with F1 and FIA dignitaries.
Maybe he will want to drive an F1 car again, it was a Renault actually, just before the start to play his strongman role;-)
Get ready for humble pie or gateau humble since you are stuck here in France Ps I note I caught your full post before you toned it down
VASSEUR: CONDENSED SEASON WILL SEE COSTS SKYROCKET https://www.grandprix247.com/2020/03/23/vasseur-condensed-season-will-see-costs-skyrocket/ I mostly retain this : “The times that are coming are going to be difficult. There will be a before and after COVID-19, in terms of our priorities. And I’m not sure motorsport is going to be one of them.”
Disagree. The world has the memory of a gnat. Come 2021 this will all be forgotten. Motorsport might decline because of the Greta movement and people thinking Formula E is cool, but Coronavirus will not be the cause.
a) I think you may be giving too much credit to the worlds ability to remember. b) The economic situation of 2021 may be significantly different than what we had Jan 2020. Hopefully world GDP will be back to 90% of 2019 in 2024.
Collective memory is one thing, but the economic damage done by Coronavirus will be felt for a long time. I just don't believe it will be business as usual as soon as this pandemic is out of the way. It will create an economic depression in Europe, for a start, increase unemployement and reduce GDP in several countries.
Tokyo 2020: Olympics to be postponed until 2021, says IOC member https://www.bbc.com/sport/athletics/52002474 The 2020 Olympic Games will be postponed by one year because of coronavirus, says International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound.
Perhaps he was suggesting Putin running F1... might be interesting. Edit: I see you deleted your post (so I removed my quote)!
And Carey is still hoping for 15-18 races, must be good stuff he is smoking as lets say season kicks off in July, that's more or less 3 races a month until the end of November.....
You seem to be a "glass half empty kinda" guy: "That's it. No way. We're done." Me? 'Half full: "Hmmmm..... Tricky. How can we do this?" 'Just have to look the obstacle(s) over....look around it/them to see where you want to go......and think of solutions. Just like racing a car. Either: "This thing is sheet. Pitch it." or: "'Damn, this thing is a slug. Why so? What do we have to do?" The choice is in the mindset of the participant.
Agree you could do it like that but then the teams have to buy in and not without problems if cars get damaged/pt swaps etc. Personally discredits the championship unless ferrari have good aero and can run all the races at monza
Teams dont get paid by F1 nor by sponsors unless they race, so they don't have much of a choice. Stroll's dad needs to buy a LOT of parts ahead of these weekends. I take it that was tongue in cheek.
I don't think so. I am a realist, and I like to look ahead. As someone who has participated in racing by entering cars, and chasing sponsors, I know that economic conditions are very important. Car racing is not an essential activity in the big picture, and it doesn't take much to disturb the best laid plans.
'Don't disagree. Those best laid plans, however, DO become disturbed, and one needs to be able to find alternatives (plans), not surrender.
I am not sure that the teams can prepare their cars to run 2 full length GPs over a weekend in the best condition. Just a though, what would you call the races: "Italian GP Part I", and "Italian GP Part II" for example? LOL
