    Nice colour, could be :-

    Argento Auteuil Mettalic 106-E-1
    Celeste Mettalic 106-A-16
or special colours Argento or Grigio Argento

Black baseline is all wrong imo

and does anybody know what the original color of the car was (outside/inside)? the catalogue says it was painted in Auteuil in 1988, but no mention of original set up...
the car is driver level, but had quality owners, so could be interesting.

TonyL, what's with the baseline? I can't see pics of the underbody on RM;s and bonhams' descriptions.

post up the chassis no and there are some on here that may be able to help

the black waistline isnt correct imo for the M / E series, it should extend from the side cills to the front and rear clip.

The web site shows a front view of what looks like the same car? It has a M series front clip but rear is E series (license plate lamp)

    Thanks Tony that’s helpful.
Chassis is 02828 according to RM. it’s probable that the 1988 restoration wasn’t done to current standards.

Its a early e series 246 so the front nose clip doesn't appear to correct, it has M series inlets below the front bumper.

Early E-Series has the M-Series inlets. Mine is 03932 and has the M-Series inlets.

The revised front clip on the E series was introduced in late 1972 Tony, possibly after the factory summer shut down.

All. Great thread and very helpful in terms of early E-series details. I am the very happy recent buyer of 02828 and plan to bring it up to current restoration standards. The car has really solid bones but needs work cosmetically - and the information you’re sharing here is critical. I’m alsI fortunate to own Matthias Bartz’ Dino Compendium which is an amazing resource. Finally, while the silver was applied professionally and thoroughly all those years ago, I just yesterday was able to uncover an example of the original Viola. Difficult color decision on the horizon!

    Hello Robert,

I can confirm Viola Dino Metallizzato 106-A-71 is the original colour to your #02828.
Be brave and go for it... :)
