Yep! These cars are a blast. The way to go is with the 650cc engine if you want to be able to drive it on our roads in the USA. 499cc stock engine is a bit too slow to drive around here. Plus you will have everyone on your tail giving you the brights to let them through. It’s an easy swap. Same block that’s bored out to 650cc. Bolts right up to existing tranny. Rosario from DiBella Fiats will hook you up. All the work is done in Sicily so you might have to wait a couple of months to get your new power plant.

Only without the crack . . . As end of the world, that was the first item consumed :D

I would also suggest if you can, get one with a 650cc fitted already. The 650 lump has an alternator fitted so is more efficient at charging, anything less capacity will have a dynamo and this is not as efficient.

Yes, soooo many options to upgrade these cars. The question is, where do you end?

This site is a good example of items you may be interested in . . Be warned, it's 500 porn

    hello!
I'd like to give you the opportunity to explain the difficulties and cost of importing a car from Italy.
I've spoken several times to a well known expert on old 500's. His advice to me was to buy one here in the US.
He said he has imported over 30, and if you don't know the system and what you are doing, it can be very costly and a huge pain in the butt.
Do you guys offer help getting a car here?
    cost?
(I understand for some, $5K is not a lot of money... certainly not when importing high end exotics. However when looking at adding 30-50% the cost of the car....)
    thanks!

    Hi,
I’d be glad to help out - it’s true that it’s costly to import a car and challenging to register in the states. I personally specialize in that so I could help you build a car, modify, restore and then ship it to the states in a future container. I take care of the paperwork/registration for my customers and if you live in the tristate area, the price will be including delivery to your house. All the work is done in Sicily, Italy. I wouldn’t suggest buying a Fiat here in the states unless you know the owner and the previous work that was done because labor and parts cost triple the price of Italy. The average cost that I charge is $14,500 and up depending on the modifications. That includes a full restoration, shipping and paperwork.

Well depends where you buy it and conditions obviously in Italy are cheaper but here in the states the average in bad shape it’s between 6,500 and up

I had an offer on my car for 18k without the 650 motor and new sync tranny. I decided to keep the car and upgrade the motor. I paid 7k for my car and spent about 23k for total restoration. Pretty sure.

that includes the car before restoration.... or the potential client gets you a car in whatever state it is in, then an additional 14.5K?

So $14,500 it’s the basic start price for a fully restored fiat 500 F/L/R model. The price includes a fully restored Fiat 500- shipping up to NY-NJ-CT-PA delivered to the customer’s house . I take care off the registration and paperwork.

Had to go see father in-law yesterday to take him supplies (meds, food) as he is in 12 week lockdown due to chemo. Also, was his 80th birthday, so took some cake and to make sure he had some limited company on the big day.

Took Val, as why not. Good 84 mile (134km) round trip in madam. Great to use her, been a while. The roads were crazy empty. If only they were like this all the time.

    Stay safe!

Question? Why is the 500 vastly more popular than the 600? Personally, I'd much rather have the 600 (or 600D).
