The front struts on my F430 work OK, but you can tell they're getting a little weak. I was going to replace them, but can't find the OEM part# for my car, Stabilus 67508100. The replacement is 80136300, but Ricambi only has one.

    Anyone found a suitable alternative?

Front Struts...Plural? I’ve only got one on my 08. Interesting.

My 08 also has only one strut. By coincidence, I just got 80136300 from Ricambi a few days ago. Maybe the early 430 had two struts?

Just ordered 2x 6300's from eurospares. Yes, my 06 has two of the previous version. Curious if using 2 of the new version (maybe designed for 1) will be alot more force.

I have a new one and there is a lot more upward force. Two would be overkill.

But aren’t there two hinges and mountings for two struts? I don’t think I’d want it to be supported unevenly.

I understand your point, but there is only one on the passenger side.

What Katman said. Only 1 mounting point, passenger side.

My 06 has 2 struts, but the older part number. Ordered 2x of the new (more powerful) part numbers from eurospares for $14 a piece.

Unless it has so much force the hood smacks me in the face everytime I'll keep both attached for balance.

I'll advise when they come in and get them installed.

Let us know, would ya. I’ve got a replacement but not sure how much pressure I use to remove the socket from the ball. First effort didn’t see it budge.

I pried the retaining clip with a small screwdriver and it popped off easily. Install the new one by snapping the socket over the ball. The hard part was keeping the hood from falling on me once held up by just one tired strut. Best is to get a buddy to hold it for you.

As for two struts, I meant one one each side, not two on the passenger side.

That would be great. The clips came off easy enough but couldn’t budge the ball out of the socket, both. Guess I’m not pulling hard enough((?)

So FINALLY got the struts in the mail from Eurospares. Took about 6 weeks...mistakenly routed through Russia...

Anyway, installed both of the new ones in about 15min. The front hood easily goes up by itself now once about 1/3 open. I certainly could've gotten by with one old and one new, but installed both the new ones anyway.

The trick to the clip is to use a tiny flat tip screwdriver and leverage it outwards along the groove. Once the clips have cleared the socket, the strut should pop out with a little force (hold the hood up slightly to take any pressure off). Both the old and new struts use the same pin size.

Seeing this was posted in December in Northern VA, let me suggest that struts don't hold up as well during cold weather. Good for you if you are driving your car year round!

These are brand new and very strong...not too worried about the cold weather. And yes, as long as the roads are dry and the temps in the 50's, I take her out!

I've decided to use only one of the new gas struts for the front lid (part #080136300). Two of the new, much stronger, struts is a bit of overkill. I left the original one on the drivers side and put the new one on the passenger side.

If anyone's interested in my extra gas strut (the new one), IM me. $30 and I'll ship it to you (CONUS).

So, do the newer ones (80136300) fit without mods?

Yep. Same pin size. Takes about 5 min to swap out.

    Old thread but I’ll ask

Pry the clips off the old and pop the struts out top and bottom with ? Moderate force?

Do you take the clips out before putting the new ones in or simply pop in and they click? Thanks. The difference between the right amount of force and the wrong can be $$$$$$

I don’t think I had to remove old clip all the way.
Same with install I think it just popped on and clicked.

    hardly any force.

I got my factory strut in a day from Ferrparts.

I propped up hood with a broom.

I would recommend NOT removing the clips, just slide them far enough outward to clear the pin and open up the hole. Use a very thin flat head or metal pick. It's not difficult, but takes a little finesse not to completely pop it off.

Do this on both sides of the replacement struts first as practice...leaving the clips "outward" so they clear the hole. You can get a better feel for what you're doing without worrying about the hood falling down.

Once the replacements are "prepped", you can do the same with one of the installed struts. I open both clips before removing it. Once both clips are open I can easily swap out the struts with one hand and hold the hood with the other. Once the new strut is installed, I pop the clips back inward with a flat head screwdriver.

Hopefully this makes sense... it's really very quick and easy once you understand how to slide the clips to release the

The clips are spring loaded, and the finish scratches easily. You won’t care about that on the old tired ones. So don’t move the clips on the new ones. Just pop them in.
