Hey Everyone My F8 will be here next week. This is my first new buy so was wondering if you could give any advice on areas to double check during my inspection. I will look for the obvious (swirls etc) but wasn't sure if there were certain areas that are more prone to issues than others. Any advice would be appreciated.
If your experience is anything like mine, you will need full paint correction. My 812 came in pretty decent, but not nearly the level that it needed to be for a car of its price range. I did full paint film too. Congrats on the F8. You must be super excited.
I did full Paint correction on my Pista. Check the car for obvious damage or issues but I don’t think you need to get on all hands and knees or anything like that. I did paint correction, full body wrap and ceramic coating. About $7500 and well worth it.
What exterior did you go for? I have to fix colour when the factory reopens, so would like to hear if any difference in quality between solid, mets and triples.
Thanks for the responses so far..........Car is Blu Corsa......(already have 458 in Rosso)..........My dealer has an in-house detail booth (and detailer) that is going to do full paint correction but I told them I want to see it before and after. Then it will go off site to get PPF and Ceramic coating (among a few other things). So wish I was taking delivery at another time........not sure yet if I will even drive it for a while (Can't believe those words are coming out of my mouth)
My f8 came in last week, it had a lot of overspray on it and some trash in the paint and some very dry areas in the quarter panel scoops and underneath the rear spoiler, dealerships do not have the proper detailed department if you are OCD, this car must be corrected by a professional and coated for protection, Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
My dealer did paint correction also. It still needed to be redone by my local specialist. Dealers dont do as good of a job.
That is why I want to see it before and after. I figure if they don’t do it right I will have the guys doing to PPF do it a 2nd time before film goes on. What issues did you still see after the dealer did this attempt?
Simply ask the dealer how long their typical paint correction takes. If they say 4 or 5 hours, pass. A thorough job involves the entire car ... the paint, the trim, the glass the wheels everything. Frankly, most dealers are just going to make it worse ... have a good detail shop do both. SoCal is right on with the $7500 range. That’s what it takes. Typically when dealers offer detailing its a high school kid with a bucket and sponge and maybe a rotary polisher. All that being said your dealer may have the right setup and training to do it right, just know that a proper paint correction is 2 to 3 stages and would take in excess of 30 hours to do it properly. Argenta, just feeling around in the door jambs and around the edges of the engine lid and various areas of the car you could just feel the overspray, they can all be taken care of with paint correction and clay bar, this is just a Ferrari thing it had nothing to do with the dealership, the quality of the paint work doesn't match the price tag of the car oh, so you just have to accept it and make it the best it can be Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
I would never let the dealer touch the paint!! Find the best detailer in your area, and have him do a proper paint correction, and the car will look amazing.
As up4speed said, don't even let them wash the car. Have it sent directly to a professional detailer. I've taken delivery of 6 F cars and after the job they did on my 1st one which is my 458, I told them to never wash the car before delivery and even at service intervals I don't have them wash the car. Dealers are masters of ruining the car. You are gonna give a pro $7-10K for PFF and ceramics so just let them do the entire car which is gonna take 1-2 weeks but it will be well worth it.

Dealer to do paint correct ??? You are crazy. To them its a car and time , and time costs $$$$. Hell I write over the service page DO NOT WASH !!!!. If you are unfortunate it will need paint correction. Hopefully because you have a cost paint it might be better. Mine was the red version RCM. I took the thought maybe if its not a non cost colour the paint job would be better ? But I can report mine was perfect , and I mean perfect . To bad the RC Pista I saw a few months ago wasn't with a paint run the whole height of the left door. How this got through inspection is unbelievable
FWIW , I complained about having to have my paint corrected in a new car Ferrari survey and the dealer wound up offering to pay for half which was about 750$. I spent a total of 7500 for paint correction , PPF and ceramic coating. Best , Kirk.
