It wasn't meant to be...…...I kinda liked the feel for 3 minutes and for the cars converted they have a loyal following. To me IMHO The shifter is at a weird angle and short and to close to the center console. The gm pedal box was ok but a hard shift on an early version I drove...….. For the ten cents on the dollar prices its fun to jump in now but remember, this car is your mistress not your wife or best friend dog. Its going to cost you AND cost you big. You wanna play....your going to pay. gtjoey1314
Just had the Aston trickle charger on my vanquish fail. Dealer quoted me $7-800 for a replacement . My question is, can we charge these cars with a C-Tek through the cigarette lighter?
Thanks again for all the replies. Unfortunately it seems I was too late and the battery on the car has died. As a result the doors will not unlock, stuck the key in the key hole in the door and the doors are still not unlocking. Is there any special method to this that I'm missing? Additionally for future reference, is it safe to assume oil change procedure is the same as the DB9. With throttle body being removed to access oil filter?
When you turn the key in the lock it should unlock manually, turn it left and right. If not there is NO window frame, take a shirt hanger, old school fish it through the glass against the seal and pull the inside door handle. Its been done before. Good luck. gtjoey1314 The oil filter car be remover with just the drivers heat stack removed AND BENDING the black bracket above the filter. Then it must come up through the top. Good luck again.
Great car, but its your mistress NOT YOUR WIFE...…..It feels great but the grey hairs come fast along with the cost KEEP A CHARGER ON THAT CAR 24/7 OR YOULL BE SORRY. Look me up GTJOEY.COM Ive played with one or two before pm anytime we are all in lockdown gtjoey1314
lolll unfortunately over my past few years of ownership, I've realized the cars a bit needy. But you get what you pay for, and its a small price to pay for the last of the old school made out of a slab of marble feeling Astons.
Once you understand the rules....The car is a WONDERFUL grand tourer by todays standards. At the depreciated prices of 50, 60 70 grand, these cars were 235,000 brand new. Its alot of car for the money but they must be taken care of. Its not a Porsche 911 in the service que gtjoey1314
Looks like this one is going cheap (no affiliation) - Currently at $40k with only a few hours to go. Looks like someone might be getting a bargain. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-Aston-Martin-Vanquish/133529542747?hash=item1f16fb205b:gUsAAOSwlK1fY7cN
Recently acquired a 2005 Vanquish S really want to convert it to manual does anyone have any experience or know how the process works with AM works ?
The gearbox is a tremec transmission as found in GM and Ford products. The conversion is really not that difficult. However interior trim parts for the shifter etc are expensive. I'm also unsure what needs to be done to the engine ecu inorder for it to work with the manual setup. I would love to attempt the conversion also. Or ship it to AM works and pay the 40k. I think there is one in California that does them..but not sure
If you're serious about offering to attempt the conversion, I would love to discuss that possibility, send me a DM. I know the AM works would have better resale value potentially, but I agree with you, I do not think it's a very complex swap, just needs attention to detail and the ability to source the parts.
No. Aston refuses to release the parts and ECU software to make it happen. So the project it dead in the water...for now.
Are values of Vanquish/S (2001-2007) going up in the US ? A 2005 Vanquish S with only 1700 miles (shame this car has never been driven and probably will never be...) in very rare Glengarry Gold has been sold by RM Sotheby's at $179,200. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I really like these..but parts are becoming massive problem. Soon these cars may become expensive paper weights..from what I understand, Aston is no longer servicing this car, and there is no aftermarket support. Once inventory is gone..that's it. Would love to hear otherwise..
Hello, for sure those elements helped. But as I was used to see the US market so low, the price surprised me. Hello, if I'm not mistaken, as the Vanquish/S (2001-2007) is part of the Heritage label of Aston Martin, parts are assured to be available. Anyway, the Vanquish needs to be serviced at an Aston workshop/dealer which is trained to set up the transmission correctly.
