What about considering the climate factor, newer seen it done on the numerous belt discussions!
Phoenix, AZ, 115 Fahrenheit, dry, dust (lived there for 3 years) compared with Gothenburg, Sweden, 15-25 Celsius, humid, no dust.
Should make a difference in expected life of rubber, belts included.
Ferraris 3 years is a global recommendation, which i keep to, but still...

Not worth the chance! I tried not changing the belt on time on a Lotus Espirit years ago....That cost me $6000 when it broke..... AT AN IDLE!

They regularly last 50 000 miles on a Toyota

Whatever gave you that idea? Ferrari to my knowledge has never had a world wide policy.

And on most Ferraris I have no doubt that would be true too if it happened in the same time frame it happens on most Toyotas. The fact is it doesn't and that is where the trouble is in exactly the same way as tires.

How long would you estimate it takes before a typical Toyota has 50K miles?

How long before a Ferrari passes 50K miles?

    Just ballpark it.

Sorry, i thought the 3 year service bulletin often related to was a global one.

Probably made by the same people- to be fair there is probably more weight on a ferrari belt given the difference in cam profiles, my rav 4 diesel was not exactly breaking speed limits. I did my mondial belts every 4 years but knew they would last a lot longer, where do you draw the line

It was a US bulletin issued in 2003 and has been superseded twice. Since 1975 Ferrari has had many polices and they have varied geographically and have changed based on feedback, experience, understanding/misunderstanding of national laws and updated materials.

And I recently threw away a really nice set of Bridgestones from the 328 and a really nice set of Michelins from the TR. Drawing the line was quite easy actually. Its why they put date codes on tires and timing belts. They still had a lot of tread if you are dumb enough to let that dictate their safe life span. I have far too much experience with both not to understand the importance of the date codes. Seen up close and personal the outcome of ignoring what people are trying to make clear to us. And I might add I am getting ready to throw away a really nice set of Pirelli Scorpions from the LM002.

Not every 10 year old tire will cause an accident and not every 10 year old belt will cause bent valves. The deniers who want to make it a binary argument are just fools.

Thanks, what would be the latest recommendation for a -85 euro QV in a temperate climate? Since i bought the car 6 years ago i have thought that 3 years is valid, so have 3 sets of belts hanging on garage wall!

I do my 328 belts at 5 year intervals.

What you choose to do is up to you.
