    Hello all,

I thought about making this thread to help me build my best exhaust system and share some knowledge with others. 430 scuderia is my best Ferrari. I own others but the SCUD is my best. To make the experience of driving such car even more fun i wanted to make the exhaust sounds best.

My goal is to have as close as F1 sound.

Here is what i have found out so far

    HEADERS
This is the part that i need the support with the most.
4-1 set up, 4-2-1 set up or keep it factory

I was told 4-1 makes more higher pitch but i don't know which one is better?

    MUFFLER
I'm going to X-pipe set up. I found the x pipe makes the sound more refined specially if done well without reduction on the total overall diameter in the merge point. I found Brand S-line is the first who made that set up. I think i will go with it

    CATALYST
I think most manufacturers uses HJS. I believe the difference between one and the other is not noticeable as long as it's well built and it fits with no issues. Here is what i found out. All of them saud super laud if combined with headers.
    • catless: it doesn't sound clean and there is a lot of gurgle sound at idle. At high RPM it's same
    • 100 cell: sound better.
    • 200 cell: little quieter and offer little more back pressure.
Personally i want to go for 200-300 cell just to be a little quieter and cleaner. not sure if there is down side with going 300 or more.
Whats the factory cats cell ?

    QUESTIONS
    • How material makes the sound different.? Thick vs thin - light vs heavy - stainless vs titanium vs inconel
    • any feedback what's better 100,200,300 cell or catless ?
    • Headers 4 -1 vs 4-2-1?
    • Anything else I should consider ?
    • I see some manufacturers use heat protection cloth or some sort of coating on top of the exhaust. does that help by any means ?

Thank you so much for your time and I appreciate your feedback

Well— what’s the latest? I always think about just getting a Capristo muffler and valve controller.

Leave the stock headers, which are 4-2-1. 4-1 will lower the pitch/tone. The oem headers only have an issue with warping, which (if it happens) can be fixed by flat grinding them back, then reinstalling with new gaskets and studs. An acquaintance has an S-line X pipe on his Scuderia....it sounds very nice (and loud). I believe he has no catalysts too...I haven't seen his car recently to say for sure.

Is it possible to run valve controllers on these modded systems? Also— is it possible to run with valves closed with little performance loss?

    thx

also— why does a CEL matter if you know it’s a cat issue to start with?

Some X pipes have a muffler above them so valves closed can send gasses through and be quieter. A stock 430 with valves permanently closed loses about 70hp I've heard, so no.
CEL is a pain because you have to read it and clear it every time in case it's not just about the cats.
