I drove Moby, a 1969 white w/ black vinyl roof Chrysler New Yorker with the 440 ci engine plus some carb and suspension work, WOT would suck small woodlands creatures through the intake. After that Fiat 850, '68 Fiat 124, '73 Mercury Capri 2.8 V6, then the SAAB Rally car... etc.

I always wanted a first generation 6cyl. capri. When I was a teenager pre drivers licence I remember a small used car lot near me used to have a few on their lot off and on. Never got the chance to get one but my second car was a 76 4cyl. capri not the same though. Love the old school New Yorkers too remember sitting in front of my house as a kid and the guy a couple of streets over from us pulls up to the stop sign in his new yorker or maybe it was a Newport but anyways he just roasts the tires when he takes off from the stop sign. This guy was into Saabs too I remember he had a big garage under his house that was full of Saab 99's. Didn't see a lot of Saab's in that part of the world in the late 70's

I first had a ‘64 Galaxy. When it caught fire, I received a Simca from my grandmother as a driver while the other was (repeatedly) being repaired. The little ‘64 Simca 1000 in oxidized red was so much more fun to squirt around in, I kept using it and sold the Galaxy.

My first car was a 1970 Ford LTD. Atleast it was 2-door and the 351 V8 was not bad.

1971 MGB - I was 17. In late 1972 my dad got it for me as an early graduation present, cost under $2K, don't recall how far under. Fun car to have senior year in high school, that is for sure.

Those were the days for sure when you could buy something like that at a junkyard.

This was my second car which was actually all mine, a 1990 Acura Integra GS 5 speed manual transmission like the one in the picture below. I lowered it, changed the wheels, tinted the windows and added a bumpin Clarion system with two 10" MTX woofers in the back. It was a great car. Had a lot of great times over the 90K miles I had it.

$500 with no engine or trans. That pic was taken after i did some of fiberglass repair, and had stripped the old paint and primered it and put a used 307 and Saginaw 4 speed trans in.

Is has a bigger small block in it now, 427 CI with custom EFI, and 5 speed.

In 1977 my dad gave me his 5 year old 1972 Olds Toronado. I promptly lit up the front tires by dragging the rear wheels in front of the High School. After about 2 minutes I blew out the whole front end and I had to spend the next month walking to school while my friends and I fixed it at night. Never did that again lol.

wow you still have it? It was my first car too... got it when i was 16 in 82. it was a champagne edition (black out trim, recaros and airdam) bought new in 78 and handed down to me from a generous bro who upgraded to a 911. I still have fond memories of it. Astonishingly the car was 1864bs, lighter than most elises. i wanted a lancia scorpion instead but look back at it, it was a perfect first car. in fact it was a great car!

A beautiful 1969 Jaguar XKE 2 door coupe in 1973 when I was a senior in high school. Even took out a teacher or two. What a babe catcher.

Love looking at first cars! The memories make them special, despite their often hooptie status.

Mine. A 1995 Ford Escort GT.

Here it is later in life with 170+ K miles on the odo. Notice the professional window fix! LOL. Motor on passenger side window burnt out heading up the Tejon Pass on way to LA, as part of a Napa Valley to DFW road trip. Window was stuck in the down position. Why were the windows down? Couldn't run the AC & climb, or the car would overheat. Btw, there's 3+ cases of champagne in that car.

That's the car I was driving when I met my wife. We don't like flying,so we went everywhere in that car, from Maine to California. Engine was solid, reliable, good MPGs, reasonably comfy (we'd sleep in it on long road trips to save on a hotel room back in the day!). Great memories. Miss it...T

I picked up my E-Type project a few years back and tracked down the original purchaser. When he bought it he was 22, single, and was running a bar/dance club. He said to be careful that you could dent the bonnet if you both of you put weight on it.

My first car back in college was a 1959 Jaguar XK150S like this one, but silver with red seats. It had overdrive, which was helpful when trying to outrun cops when running out of 4th gear. One night an inebriated woman crossed a center line and hit me head on. The extensively damaged car was then transformed into a very competitive C Production car to race in SCCA national events.

Great story but I can attest that the hood can withstand two thrashing people on the hood. Just had to be careful of the vents.

Always good to know. I mean he still thinks that his car was made of aluminum not British Pre Rust.
