I’m curious why some carbon calipers say “brembo carbon ceramic” under the “Ferrari” and some say only “Ferrari”.

I wondered if this was a Scuderia thing but I then saw a scud without the red “brembo” type. Perhaps this started in 2007 when carbon brakes were standard?

I have a 2008 F430 with carbon ceramic brakes as standard in black, I had my carbon ceramic brakes repainted and before that I did a little research.
    The transition started between 2008-2009.

When the F430 came out, CCBs were an option, and even with this option, the brake calipers would just say Ferrari.
In 2008 CCBs became standard for all F430 but the calipers were still the same.

The Scuderia ones seem to have "Brembo carbon ceramic" since they were 2009 models mostly, but I suppose if you find a 2008 or earlier one it might just say Ferrari. After 2009 including most of the scuderia, 458 and later all had brembo carbon ceramic

Another interesting fact is the "Ferrari" font on the brake calipers changed from being slim to now a fatter beefier one.

In the end I painted my calipers in Giallo Modena with fat black "Ferrari" only to match the model year and originality

I have a 2009 which has carbon ceramic brakes standard and they just say “Ferrari”. No extra text on the calipers

Well now that you bring this up. Have you noticed the direction of the Ferrari script?
On my 08, the script faces the rear of the car on the passenger side.
The script faces the front of the car on the drivers side.
Do your cars look the same? I’ve always wondered

Ok, so now y’all have to go look...

What’s interesting about my particular car is that according to the build sheet in MyFerrari.com, my calipers are supposed to be yellow from the factory.

I'll take a look later when I can pull the car out of the garage. I can only access/see one side easily right now.

[edit]. I managed to squeeze in and look without moving the car. The scripts face different directions. FYI: My caliper color matches my build sheet.

Interesting. Why would they face different directions?Factory quirk? Some factory lore that harkens back to the past days of racing?

What I forgot to add above is that my build sheet says yellow calipers but the car has red. Some previous owner must have changed the color. Much prefer yellow on my blue car...

And in direct answer to the OP’s question, my 08 just has Ferrari

It has to be intentional. Just checked my Porsche and my wife's Porsche which I think are factory Brembo and they don't follow this rule.

Yep, same finding with my RHD
calipers on the left side has the bottom of the words facing forwards and vice versa on the other side
I'm glad the guy that did my caliper paint job didn't mix it up.

I also found that a factory spec 2008 599 GTB has "brembo carbon ceramic"

I'm fairly confident the standard is to face the script on the calipers so the bottom is toward the center of the wheel, just like lettering on tires. Depending on where the caliper is mounted on the rotor, this could be facing the rear or front of the car.

My bad... didn't quite understand what you were saying there. Are you saying the script direction on the passenger side wheels is opposite from drivers side?

Front driver bottom of script is towards center and forward facing
Rear driver bottom of script is towards tire and forward facing
Front passenger bottom of script is towards tire and facing back
Rear passenger bottom of script is towards center of rum and facing back

I bet they have one guy do the right side at the factory and another do the left. A little too much lemoncello and failure to coordinate!

If you think about it the calipers have to be designated as left and right .. so if you need to replace you have to make sure you have the right side besides front and rear

Too much lemoncello ..I think I will go have some now .. lol

This is true... maybe further upstream in the process. Whoever applies the script to the calipers has never installed a caliper, so they don't know which way goes "in" vs "out".

I'll join you on that drink... I'm thinking Glenlevit 15!

    Cheers,
    Mike

The calipers for 398mm discs are different to those for 380mm discs.

I'm restarting this thread because I just noticed the same, or I think the same about the direction the Ferrari lettering faces on the calipers on my 2009 F430. The front driver's caliper faces towards the hub (center of wheel), as does the front/rear passenger wheels. The rear driver's caliper faces out (bottom of the lettering) towards the tire. I haven't had the car too long and just noticed this the other day and thought someone must have had them repainted and the shop screwed up the lettering but the color (yellow) matches the factory build spec and they look original.

Mine also do not say "Brembo Carbon Ceramic" on them, only Ferrari.

I'm beginning to believe this was just a factory error or oversight of some kind???
