I knew these were rebuildable just didn’t want to start an argument on here. Thanks for providing the info! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I paid $1,668 including tax and shipping. I check many other places and that was the cheapest I found. So $1,200 at Eurospares is a very good price.
Is this rebuild price per strut, pair, or all four? Typically in the states it’s around $1000 for a rebuild of all four. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The rebuild price they quoted me was for one shock. When I searched for my shock I hadn't checked Eurospares which seems to be the cheapest way to go for a new shock.
What did you decide to do about your leaking rear shocks? Did you rebuild or replace? How many miles on your car before they started leaking? Mine are leaking at ~27,000 miles. Is this typical for them to leak at this mileage on a 458? Thanks.
I’ve heard different stories, but the one that seems most accurate is that the fluid in OEM shocks is abrasive and wears out the seals. The OEM shocks are not meant to be rebuildable, but they can be. Here’s a place that looks good. I’ve been in touch with them and haven’t done it yet only because I haven’t had a window on the lift for the approximate 2 week turn around time. Once they are rebuilt, the new parts will allow them to be rebuilt again, but the latest fluid is not as abrasive and the seals reportedly are more robust. If anyone tries them, please post your experience. http://www.madenoracing.com/more-news/328/Ferrari-458-MagneRide-shock-absorber-rebuild-services/ Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
