Up for sale is my gated 1996 Ferrari F355 GTB in Rosso Corsa over Tan. I’ve got too many cars for too few spots and with another manual transmission car incoming, I’ve decided to let go of my 355. I thought I’d put it up on FChat before turning to BAT, which is where I bought the car.

This 355 is for someone who wants a beautiful, fully sorted car, ready to enjoy without reservation, worry or need to start chasing down issues. The car has 30,8xx miles and runs and drives beautifully. The sound from the Capristo valved exhaust is intoxicating - it’s tame and sedate under 4K revs and then sounds like an F1 car when the muffler valves deploy.

The car had a comprehensive engine out major service in August 2018 by FChat’s own YelCab, one of the most knowledgeable and talented 355 technician’s in the country. Services included during that major service were:
    1. Removed and reinstalled engine
    2. Removed heads and sent out for valve job
    3. Changed timing belts and tensioner bearings using Hill Engineering bearings
    4. Performed cam timing on four banks
    5. Removed injectors and sent out for cleaning
    6. Refinished cam covers, and pumpkin cover
    7. Replaced spark plugs, inspected plug wires: Good all across
    8. Replaced oil, gas, air filters
    9. Replaced AC belt and Power steering belt
    10. Replaced clutch disc and pressure plate
    11. Replaced slave cylinder with Hill Engineering slave cylinder
    12. Rebuilt water pump
    13. Replaced valve cover gaskets, plug gaskets, and rear seals
    14. Replaced S hose, coolant 90 degree hoses, bleed hoses, heater return hose
    15. Update power steering reservoir to BMW unit
    16. Removed and refinished gas tank shield, CV boot shields
    17. Replaced transmission fluid, oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid
    18. Replaced short oil hose from engine to oil tank
    19. Recharged R134
    20. Replaced bank 1 side, front and rear O2 sensors
    21. Replaced Cat converters with used units
    22. Installed new OEM Challenge grill
    23. Replaced bushing under shift box
    24. Inspected shock position switch
Additional work since that major included:

    1. Installed new Capristo Stage 1/3 exhaust
    2. Installed Ferrari 348 “no airbag” steering wheel
    3. Installed new Pilot Sport 4S tires
    4. Annual Service Jan 2022 (by Yelcab):
    • Replaced engine oil, oil filter, PS fluid, coolant, brake fluid
    • Alarm light on all the times - Removed alarm module, cut open, removed battery, replaced with new batteries, glued and resealed module and reinstalled
    • Both seats refurbished to include - Removed both seats; Removed surfaced dye from driver seat; Disassembled and deep cleaned both seats with Leatherique products; Re-dye driver seat with custom match dye color; Reinstalled seats in vehicle
    • Note: the waviness in the passenger airbag cover has been repaired
The car was thoroughly inspected by RJ of RJ’s paint shop (a premier exotic body/paint shop in Northern California) and he reported no signs of any prior accidents. It’s likely the car was repainted in its original color at some point, done to a very high standard. I had a paint correction (polishing) completed last year and the paint on the car is beautiful. All glass on the car is original and is in excellent condition. The air conditioning blows cold and the radio works fine, though the OEM speakers aren’t particularly good. The only item that I’m aware of that might be inoperable is the light on the suspension stiffness switch.

Included with the car are over $5,000 worth of goodies and spares:

    1. Service records dating back to October 1997
    2. Original solid rear grill (buyer will need to arrange transport)
    3. Spare Tubi Exhaust
    4. Original 355 steering wheel
    5. Original owner’s manual and tool kit
    6. Original battery tender
    7. Schedoni 3 piece luggage set with covers (interior of the luggage showing some signs of degradation)
    8. Extra floor mats
    9. Original car cover
    10. Seat and steering wheel covers
    11. Two keys

As this description and the photos convey, this is indeed a turnkey gated F355 GTB that is ready to enjoy. I’m happy to share VIN, more photos and answer questions from interested parties via PM.

Beautiful, curious why the steering wheel swap.... airbag system a constant nuisance on the 355's ?

Fantastic car - question on exhaust, is the capistro system including headers or is it a cat-back system?

The 355 steering wheel is a weak link IMO. It’s too big and bulky and was a rush to meet the airbag regs. I also didn’t like the idea of a 20+ year old first gen airbag in front of me. This change was one of may favorite mods. Really improved the driving experience.

The 348 wheel looks right at home in that car...dare I say I even think it looks better than the hard-to-find non-airbag early 355 wheel.

She's a beauty, good luck with the sale.

Such a nice looking car. Any idea why an under 30k mike car would need a repaint? That seems like the one and only gray area.

I’ll get a paint gauge and take some measurements. I don’t know that the car has been repainted. I had to have the front bumper resprayed when I got it because it was damaged by an unscrupulous transporter who delivered the car to me.

Makes total sense. Just letting you know how it read to me (and maybe others). A bumper respray is no big deal but a full repaint raised the question.

Beautiful car ! Had the good fortune of owning a 95 355 GTB with the Capristo exhaust ... miss that car dearly. Great example, GLWS

355 heads are jewelry to the mechanically inclined. And even if not, likely flavor flav would even get more respect wearing a 5 valve head around his neck instead of an ikea quartz clock. :D
