Michael and Rubens had very different driving styles Bas. The team was structured around Schumacher and the car was developed to suit his method IMO. Does anyone know how many times Rubens outqualified Michael? I'm guessing it is fewer than ten.

    Luckiest F1 world champion ?
That could be John Surtees who lifted the crown in 1964 is extraordinary circumstances.

After he won the Italian GP that year, Ferrari withdrew his team from the championship, sent his competitor's licence back, following a conflict with the FIA.
For Surtees, who was 3rd in the ranking at that point, it was a catastrophe not to be able to race in the USA and Mexico.
A compromise was found, with the Ferraris being painted blue and white, and entered by Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team.
In the US, Surtees finished 2nd, behind G.Hill the leader in the points.

Before the Mexican GP, 3 drivers could be WDC: G.Hill (BRM), Clark (Lotus) and Surtees (Ferrari) trailing in the points behind them.
2 of them were eliminated during the race; first G.Hill was hit by Bandini (Ferrari) and relegated at the back with a damaged car.
Then Jim Clark's engine failed in the last lap as he was second, and in view of the title.
The Ferrari pit signaled Bandini (now 2nd) to let his team mate by, and Surtees won the championship by a single point.
Being a true gentleman, Graham Hill never blamed Bandini for the incident.
Some suspected foul play from the Italian and accused Bandini of having deliberately made contact with the BRM to help his team .

Of course he was lucky at Indy. Just ask Scott Goodyear. But even more importantly, the way the yellows fell his way was unheard of. Pure luck at it's finest.

Jacques was 2 laps down at one point. Scott Goodyear totally blew it, psychologically he never recovered from it(as a driver).

This is hilarious considering I fervently supported Ferrari during the Michael years and cheered my ass off when Kimi(was my favorite driver even when he went to lotus) won the title and was pissed when Lewis won his first title on the last corner. Comments like yours show why the F1 forum is in its present condition. I would love for Leclerc to win. I would also be happy if Lewis won. I just want to see good racing. And decent discussion. Just because I don’t drink from the Ferrari tit doesn’t mean I want to see them lose or prefer to see another team win

He was lucky Schumacher didn't run him off the road in 97, like the way he did to Damon Hill. I'll give Schumacher an "A" for effort though.

oh absolutely, and the car was fully developed around Michaels tastes....as to be expected really. And the time Schumacher spend to improve the car via constant testing...

Best you read some of my other posts then as I've been a very strong Vettel, Kimi and Max supporter well before any of them drove for Ferrari (and max still isn't)

Best you learn reading comprehension. I don’t have to check anything because I never made an assertion that you do not support drivers/teams outside of Ferrari. I don’t care who anyone supports, it doesn’t bother me nor do I hold ones argument less valuable based on it. I spoke only to your argument and you decided to take a jab at me based on an assumption on who I “really support”.

I apologize that I don’t post often enough to satisfy the F1 forum requirement. Why go out of my way to “participate” and post more often when people take unwarranted personal jabs at you for expressing a difference of opinion even when you’re a Ferrari fan.

I thought Hunt was lucky until I read his biography. I thought Nikki deserved it but I changed my mind.

RE Button, also lets not forget that not only did he easily dealt with Lewis, but also was a formidable opponent to Alonso! Of course due to the dismal performance of the Mclaren all those years, it's gone a bit unnoticed...no glory racing over 14th!

    • Sexual insinuations about drivers has nothing to do with racing and only starts trouble
Give it a couple years and luckiest wdc of all times will be a certain Lance Stroll in his Aston Martin, 1 year after Mercedes has abandoned F1 and after 90% of their staff is now under papa Stroll, who now also owns the whole of F1. In his team also Mr Wolff and Bottas, who keeps having the worst luck year over year somehow. Meanwhile Lewis Hamilton’s last movie, “Fast and bi-curious” has been a massive flop and he’s pondering coming back to racing in formula-e, as Massa’s teammate

Yet but another homophobic inference directed towards promoting the whole Hamilton-is-gay narrative.

But for you that’s seemingly justified because it’s within the context of a (feeble) “attempt” at humor/satire. You must be proud . . .

    Exactly.

Some dislike or make fun of Lewis Hamilton because of his perceived sexuality (whatever it may be.) I personally find this odd.

I have seen the criticism, and find it to be a strange critique, but as it was not I that first brought it up (I simply responded) - I'm not the person you should be asking.
