Don't know, but "many", believe me; I have a lot of place here, so I can stockpile...I alternate with wine also, but you need more time to shop for wine. Will take the GTS out next saturday for wine shopping. I really can't complain about my quarantine conditions, which are as ideal as they could be: large house, large garden, etc...(except some "slight cat complications", see above...) but it is indeed very revealing how good it feels to take the car out, if only for a 15 miles spin. And the most ironic thing is that gorgeous spring weather we have. That being said, and without any judgement on my part, someone reminded me that, among the generation before mine (people born in the late twenties and in the thirties) in the same village where my family has been living since 1840 (and even much earlier from my father's side), some people never ever left it, only for wars or military service...(which wars, thanks to the french, germans and russians, took some of them as far as Stalingrad, Constantinople; or Hanoï and Saigon for my dad) Rgds
Sorry: of course: the little gray one on the right. The mother is resting. the father, well...is away on one of his many adventures...he can enjoy the gorgeous weather... Rgds
Fired the 308 up for the first time in a month... brake warning light on... reservoir empty, brake fluid leak at e-brake shaft on right rear caliper.... ok, fill reservoir, bleed at all four corners (and dear god, do I ever miss having a lift - backstory there is why the car wasn’t driven for a month).... drove the car as much as was prudent with a slow hydraulic leak, ordered seal kit from Superformance. Now rebuilding a Fiat X1/9 starter while I wait for my chance to do the 308 caliper.
Got out the red and black touch up paints, small brush and toothpicks and touched up all the small stone chips behind the rear wheels on the inside wheel arches.
An old detailers trick, that allows you to put just enough paint into the chip. More accurate than a brush.
Today I got out for a quick trip down the road. April weather isn’t the most predictable in the mountains. So nice to be back in the 328 after hibernation and 7 weeks of lockdown. Running really good! Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Took mine for a drive around Queens and picked up some local brews. Exercised the A/C for first time this season and happy that it blew cold. But, the fan still whistles like crazy. Also, shift to second gear squeaking a lot when doing quick shifts, which I'll be looking into. Otherwise, running great. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The oil return from rear cam cover began leaking at the flange that straddles the cam cover and block on my '87 328. I removed the gasket, cleaned up the surfaces, cut a new gasket and applied a dab of sealant at the unions of the cover with the block. No more leak. Oil had begun dripping on the CV joint and getting thrown onto hot exhaust pieces. I smelled it after a drive.
Anybody have a link for a step-by-step playbook for removing a 328 radiator for repair? I remember seeing one sometime ago but I can’t find it. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Changed the coolant today and fitted Roberts (obertRo) drain system kit which arrived yesterday, all done now ready for Lock down to end, cheers Robert i'm sure i'll need a good run out to find a couple more air pockets to work out of the system. Having replaced a coolant hose and an oil cooler hose, the engine bay needed a degrease, the car needed a wash and then I had to take it for a drive to confirm that all leaks are fixed. I decided to park outside the house in Pymble NSW where the car’s first owner lived. No leaks found so I took a scenic route home. During last weeks SoCal 308 Group run thru Santiago Canyon Mike Tuason noticed my brake lights were dim while following me. You can see it in the picture at the traffic light. So decided to take the lens out and try to clean out the 39 year old dirt inside and replace the bulbs while I was in there. 1034 and 1073 bulbs getting hard to find. 1156 and 1157’s work but I believe that they have shorter life. I’ll get it all back together and see what it looks like tonite. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's true.... But the amount of crap that builds up inside the lens over 40 years will blow your mind. It's one of the first things I did with my car and it made a big difference.... As did changing to led
