So I guess the point of manufacturing these is to save lives because of short supply. Speculators would be negating the point. But hey you might make a buck. :(

You have to buy the non carbon editions first in order to be considered for the "speciale" version.

I blame Ferrari for putting their logo on them. They should know better.

They did know better. Their brand is valuable and they’d do anything to extend it, particularly things seen as good will.

That and I think there is a sense of national pride and because of this it won't back fire. Ferrari is Italy. Italy is Ferrari sort of a thing

Because Ferrari collectors will try to get them instead of the people who need them. Plus I find it vulgar in general tpo publicize ones good deeds. Sticking your logo on a medical device during this crisis is in terrible taste as far as Im concerned. I feel the same about people who publicize when they donate to charity. Turns my stomach.

Do you feel the same way about 3M putting their logo on N95 masks?

While natural aspiration is better, might as well go Ferrari if forced induction is the only way.

    100% this.

    And 100% this.

Every single one of these items that end up in the hands of a collector is one less vital piece of equipment in a hospital, to save the lives of a very sick person, often in limbo between life and death. There can be no oversupply of these items. No surplus. No leftovers to collect. Every single one is needed.

It’s all very fine and well to collect these, until someone you love finds him/herself connected to a ventilator in short supply of parts. And if God forbid he/she loses his/her life, then maybe, just maybe, collectors will understand that this isn’t something to be collected. Go buy some stamps. Collecting medical supplies in a time of crisis is the utmost proof that money doesn’t buy you class or intellect.

Morals aside (which is kind of the heart of the matter really), in some countries (most of them?) it’s outright illegal and you face criminal charges for hoarding medical/food supplies in a crisis.

As far as I’m concerned, to address the title of the thread, this is an item “for the collector that has it all”... except a clue.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

if 3m were a luxury brand that didn't normally make masks but who licensed their logo for all sorts of junk because people buy based on their logo? sure.

    but they're not.

    so no.

Ha I was honestly talking the other day about the ventilators becoming available for collectors after this whole thing blows over. Nothing wrong with the Cavallino either, I think thats awesome. I'll be keeping an eye out. Of all the crappy things the company of Ferrari does, this is a bright spot

What's ludicrous is your outrage that the company who manufactured the product is putting their logo ON the product... Which is a standard practice for medical supplies, devices and equipment.

Guys, this part connects to a full face swim mask, it replaces the built in snorkel and allows a filter to snap on

Are collectors/speculators actually obtaining these or was it joke from the start?

I think (hope!) it was just a joke - But in this day and age, it's hard to tell!

On the basis of it not being a joke though:

The valves are being fitted to emergency medical equipment - Ferrari are not selling them to the highest bidder, so how are they going to get into the hands of collectors, instead of being fitted to the equipment?

I would also suspect that there would be a severe punishment for anyone caught removing them from the ventilators, and putting lives at risk.

Personally speaking, I think it would be a nice touch if everyone who has used the ventilators with the Ferrari valves, and survived because of them, were given the valve as keepsake from the experience (on the proviso that another valve be fitted to the ventilator of course!)
