Yeah, seller confirmed no paper record of any services completed either and that 458s only need some oil every year... think the maintenance schedule over past 7 years (and 25k miles) would be a little more extensive. I suggested resale value might be impacted by the lack of records and response was 'that's never been an issue'... something seems a little off.

I agree, something is off. It should have had (minimum):
    Oil Change every year
    Brake fluid every 2 years
    Accessory belt every 2 years
Air filter for engine and cabin (not sure the frequency)
and all that stuff should have been FREE, so no reason not to do it

Additionally, for someone who "maintained" the car well, I would expect:
A few coolant changes and gear box changes which I don't think is included in the free services.

Appreciate the feedback... I'm based on the other side of the country to it and doing a part exchange with my Maserati was always a bit of a pipe dream given the distance.

As they say, where there's smoke, there's fire - best left alone.

    Thanks!

Driven lovingly and well cared for. :) 16K miles in 8 months and no service records?

I have beige Daytona seats on my spider. With red stitching and piping with red cavalinos.

They are beautiful but a chore to keep clean.

Crema seats would be an even bigger chore.

Fuoco paint is a $20k+ option. I have seen it in person IMHO not worth it. The triple layer yellow however is stunning...and l am not a fan of yellow cars.

Not really such a great deal. My car had 23K miles (2014) sold and serviced by Algar, local owner and full records. I bought it at the end of last year, and lets just say I would not have paid 170k for my car (which I like a lot more than that one).

    Chris,

Dealer changes mine yearly. And as you correctly pointed out, many owners have free maintenance, so it’s quite odd that there isn’t a complete service record available. Should be the easiest thing in the world.

In these circumstances and in my humble opinion: no history? No deal. It’s not an F40 or an Aperta.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

I don’t think that’s good policy. It’s like taking a bath and shampooing just your head and chest.

For me at least, part of the fun is servicing the car preemptively and knowing that you’re enjoying it and pushing it to the limit in tip top shape.

Can’t imagine what it must be like driving a car in which you know things are past their prime and can throw out fault codes and actual failures at you any second. Spoils the whole experience, driving in fear.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

The most beautiful 458 is the one in your garage :). Wasn’t easy to get my 91 year old pap in, but telling him he had to get out was far harder.

Can't argue with that! Looks great! Nothing better than taking a close family member out for a spin in a supercar and scaring the life out of em :)

That's great. I love how happy he looks!! I wish my father could enjoy my car like that. He would do nothing but complain :( (it's too rough, it's too noisy...blah, blah, blah)

I remember my 90 year old Dad (about 3 years before he passed) making sure I gave him a ride in my first Ferrari (a 360 spider at the time). Our first stop was by one HIS buddies house to show it off. Great memories. :) Good for you. Cherish these moments with your father. They are far too few and when they stop you can never get them back.
