    Can someone please provide guidance on the correct finish and material for the underside of 1975 U.S. market 308GT4 engine cover and other horizontal panels? I believe it should be a matte black finish, material is a German spray-on product, but I have no confirmation. I’ve checked various resources such as Bluemel’s book and some unofficial pictures but would like to hear from actual owners and experts.

    Any information and pictures would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Jack.

    I thought semi gloss satin black. With texture on the parts seen here and “flat” on the horizontal and vertical sections

    Sorry to drill in to your OP...the Spray Shurtz goes onto the sheet metal work, but on all of my cars, the frame members are painted as you show, but not gloss...

    On my (front) hoods it's the one place I can show where hammer marks were not filled over....

    If I had a GT4 (not anymore), and all the rust spots are taken care of, then I would be worried about the shade of the black matte paint under the lid.

    Thanks, Ken. Can you clarify which parts and sections you refer to?

    Hi Jack, pardon the sloppy illustration, but (at least on mine, and it had been a bare metal repaint to factory specs)

    Blue = "flat" paint sections

    Red sections = textured (pretty bumpy, but not as closely "crinkly" as the airbox, which takes the right spray and heat to get the finish)

    Thanks, Ken. That’s very helpful.

    Mine is being done bare metal to factory spec as well, thus my interest in the details. I hope I can check with you again if other questions come up.

    :)

    Sure thing, you should reach out to @plugzit too, I believe he is deep into a factory restoration and could help you out too with more details.
