OK one more challenge, boys. I’ve asked about getting carpet, searching for colors. I’ve asked about sourcing new leather seat covers. I spent months getting them installed. I’ve chased down custom mats. I found the right radio. When you spend over $2k on new light color red leather seats, you don’t really just sit on them, do you? Is there a useful product that serve as seat protectors for driving? Old Corvette suppliers Used to sell “seat savers,” a slip on cover that did the trick to keep the seats nice. Is there something out there that isn’t a crazy looking sheepskin thing?
Lol PJs Not really PJs ... here is a pic from an old ad Not sure how they would fit on a 328 ..made for 430 or 360 This also has the steering wheel cover in pic Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
I have an early version of these. They work quite nicely. Mine have rough dimensions of 20"x 43". I believe some color are still this smaller size. https://www.amazon.com/Sojoy-Universal-Season-Fashionable-Cushion/dp/B00XWVYSXY/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
Man that looks snuggly, and right to the OPs request!! That's pretty cool...(literally here as beach front days are scorching!)
You could also search your favorite internet site for the ones that were sold by Ferrari North America in the eighties... The most common variant was beige with black piping, and "Ferrari" lettering on the seat cover just at shoulder's level, I have a set of these for my 328 GTB with beige interior, but there were other colors, I have also a set of the the charcoal ones with gray piping and lettering, finely matched to my Nero Metallic / Gray leather 328 GTS. These are "period correct", more than the red satin ones which are "early 2000's", although more a seat protection than something you can actually sit onto; the cloth is rather strong, a bit like an army pair of pants... Rgds
I plan to order a remanufacturing of these covers. We can't do many think in this period but still keep this project.
There is a set on ebay right now. Actually been listed for many months without sale. https://www.ebay.com/itm/392776343058 Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Your Grandma too, huh? That's a crazy price. I have them & use only the driver's seat. It's functional. I've modified it with an elastic strap to go under the seat to keep it from sliding off all the time. I do have to say, they are a bit cheesy looking for a Ferrari, IMHO I do like the partial covers Brian posted above.
Whenever I see a car with seat covers, I assume that the seats themselves are trashed and ripped. In fact, that's the only time I've ever seen them used. Unless it's a set of Hello Kitty covers in a Honda, I suppose...
I agree when it comes to fitted seat covers. But these are just seat protectors, that just slip on and off very easily. I think you'll find they were mainly used by authorised Ferrari workshops when customers cars came into the shop, they slipped them on to avoid any potential oil or grease from the mechanics clothes marking the seats.
My understanding is the red seat covers that came in the vehicle with the steering wheel protector and car cover set came in more recent Fcars after the 3x8. Our 3x8 did not come with these covering. I thought they are not meant for driving but more storage. I too like to non-covered seats. I use leather conditioner but should have mine dyed to make them look better. If you periodically condition the seats you should be fine unless you insist on seat covers then maybe a universal fit may do. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Whew I bought my car in '84, it had full coverage sheepskin seat covers on the seats, including a piece that fully covered the headrests. They eventually wore out and i tossed them. They may not have been as classy as the leather seats, but they didn't annoy me enough to remove them while they were still good. I use no seat covers, now, on my 2010 installed leather recover project. Doug
I just like how the seat cover keeps the leather dryer on hot and sweaty days. Plus it takes the brunt of the abrasion getting in and out of the car. Hello Kitty seat covers in a Ferrari would be outrageous.
They are mainly for storage but yes, I sit on them just to keep the seats free from abrasions from my pants or belt and when getting in and out. Can be removed in a matter of seconds.
I’ve got a set of the red satins for a newer car. The red is tacky I agree. Bought them as others have said to protect the leather from abrasion on the outward bolsters which take a beating. They remove in two seconds when I get to a gathering or show. I think I paid less than $100 for them 5-6 years ago on eBay. I’d like a set of the canvas twill type shown. Might have to try and make my own set with wife’s sewing machine......
My seats after 20 years under seat covers. I had the a complete interior restoration back on 01. The second I got it home these covers went straight on. I only take them off at shows.
