Are you asking about the cat delete pipes or actually a muffler delete and keep the cats?

Many are running cat bypass pipes. It is pretty loud from directly behind but not bad inside the car. Very authoritative bark when you start the car. That and a tune will get some power as well. Personally I like the idea of changing to 6-1 headers and high flow cats.

Yes I’ve done it and it’s a good improvement for my taste. It was way to quiet before. With valves closed it’s almost identical to stock with just a slight uptick in noise. When the valves open it’s quite a bit better in the cabin but not obtrusive at all with windows up or down.
It gets pretty good in the high revs under some throttle. The way a Ferrari V12 should sound

I would love to try 6-1 headers but from what I’ve read it’s a bit too involved for me.

I don't think it is too involved because there are bolt on options (not the GTO headers, those are difficult) but it is likely a bit of trouble for us in CA.

Realistically what can be expected from a tune after deleting the cats?

I agree 100%. We had a cat's delete and the sound is much better especially with the muffler valve. I don't know about the HP increase but read somewhere that it was about 25hp. Someone else will probably come on and add to this. We owned a Porsche turbo and dealt with the dreaded "drone" all the time making it really obnoxious at a certain rpm. This option does nothing like that.
