Get a trust worthy Ferrari technician to go over the car to see what it needs. Get a parts list going as to what you need to buy and then negotiate a fair price. If it’s in ok mechanical shape and everything checks out ok. Absolutely. But know that restoring a car is almost always more expensive than just buying a finished car. I have restored a number of cars back to new condition and it is fairly costly unless you do a lot of the work yourself. You will have to investigate the car further and your own willingness to get that involved and then make the decision. Definitely a lot of fun but you have to be fully committed. Love the car. Good luck

As we know, age tends to rot things like seals, fuel lines, brake lines. I'm confident the car is rust-free but unsure of mileage. Needs paint. I'm sure the interior leather is baked as well. We are capable of the restoration [https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/i-crashed-my-355.618058/] but as you stated, it may or may not be economically viable to restore.

I'm doing my best to find the owner. Last I heard this car was not for sale.

Can't you just run the plate from your local insurance agency and they can provide you the address?

this is only a short thinking :( as a lot of peolple did about 1 years before. buying cheap and then see that they have to invest a lot of money to go on driving and so they sold again . I remember times where one of my customer sold his testarossa ( model 1988 ) in good running condition for about 47.000 €

if I will start such project I also will finish it until condition 2. not just put a little paint on. you are sure you can drive? what about belts, diff, fuel iniction?

when you count this all together then as I mentioned before even a cheap price will be too much. if you could get the car for example for 30k US $ then you can think over to buy it unseen. all what is more needs a good inspection of the car
