A few minor questions for my fellow Ferrari friends. I recently adopted a 1990 Mondial Cab. I noticed when you look directly down thru the bonnet I can see my battery in plain site. Is this normal. Is there a cover missing. I can’t believe it would be left to the elements like that. Secondly, directly under the gate at base of shifter it looks like there was some sort of insulation or foam it is now dust flying around with every shift. Where would I even find out what it was or where to get it? Can’t find it on any parts diagram. And lastly the rubber pillars in front of the rear windows have for some reason worn or torn there bases. Is that what there calling a gasket in the diagrams. There are open areas at the base of these rubber pillars on both sides. Very noisy Would appreciate any info you could provide
    Thanks

    Congratulations.

To your first question, this is normal, and yes - it's an exotic from the 80's. No cover, that said, I rarely drive in the rain - so no problems so far
Your second question, I never had foam in mine - the full gate is exposed for me at least.
Finally, the rubber piller are no longer made, you'll have to find second hand - very common for them to deteoriate. @ronfrohock made some, he might have some leftover. His versions are even better then the original, that said - the bottoms get rubbed because of the rear windows giving them more clearance, I just ordered the replacements from Ron for posterity, but left the old ones in there since they don't bother me being rubbed at the bottom.

Let me know if you have more questions!

Thank you. The material under the gate appears to be the same composition as the radiator gasket (grey foam). Thanks again for the tip

Ron made them and they are awesome (better the original in my opinion) - Not sure if he has any left over though.

    Cheers

I have been considering making more but as written above, I need six firm commitments to do so. I can’t afford to cover the cost of tooling without knowing that I will he recoup at least part of the costs quickly. Tooling costs now exceed $10K and the metal splines that get capture molded are $100.00 each. These things are costly to produce and requires a decent amount of labor.

Congrats, I think you'll love it. I have a tubi on my 456M and it's been a joy.

Good question. I had cats removed on both the 456M and Mondial t. I ended up putting both back on simply because I couldn't stand the exhaust smell, it was just too stinky hahaha. High flow cats seem like the ticket!

    :)

    Re. The battery cover....
My car has an acrylic cover that snaps into place that covers the battery.
I can take a picture if you like.
