I guess I will not be getting that free trip to Melbourne after all :) Looks like you have made a lot of progress.

All four lamps should be on when high beam is activated. From your description it appears you have a H1 bulb in the high beam lamp and a H4 bulb in the low beam lamp. A H1 bulb has only one connector and gets ground through the body of the lamp. A H4 bulb has three connections; a low beam, a high beam and one for ground. Behind each of the pair of lamps you should find a wire connector. The diagram below shows how it should be connected. Using a multimeter you need to determine which of the three bulb connectors is common to both bulb filaments, this is where you connect the ground wire.

Too noisy to tell 100% until the exhaust goes on. Engine seems to work just fine but it’s too early to tell until it has a few more miles under its belt. The discs and pads need bedding in so the brakes fell quite spongy for now and electrical gremlins are there spoiling the fun, hopefully I can give you a better answer later this week or next

I would be delighted! I have a brand new problem with the centre console ignition switch which I need to resolve first but hopefully that will be fixed tomorrow. It worked before today but didn’t after my 500m drive , got to love an Italian car!

The switch that you see here looks very similar to the Fiat 124 part that I could have bought on EBay

Correct. That ignition switch was used in many cars. The original switch was Marelli but there are other alternatives that will fit. This one on ebay is Bosch and has a metal ring
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/BOSCH-Ignition-Switch-Fits-ALFA-ROMEO-LAMBORGHINI-Giulia-GT-Spider-Espada-269001/152970012504?epid=1122685364&hash=item239db92758:g:7YgAAOSwyhVeK0fy

Once you are able to take the car for a drive I suggest you make sure the ignition switch is not getting hot. It is possible that too much amperage is running through the switch, which would explain the burnt terminal. It is also possible that the old switch had too much internal resistance. If the new ignition switch stays cool, then you are fine.

I'm pretty certain he's sold Muira's for WAY more money that any Ghiblis though.

Hi all. I just thought I’d share some of the progress we are making on the mechanicals of my Ghibli. Rather than post a load of photos in the thread, there are lots on the website here :

    www.classicandracing.co.uk

axle and gearbox rebuild plus the very start of the engine strip.

nice to be making proper progress!

best to all and have a good weekend.

Very nice Mark!!! Looking good !!!!

But one question - the rear differential itself, shouldn't it be painted an orange color when complete, like
I see in some of the pictures?
