Is "urban marketing" code for appealing to people of color?

Utter bullocks about Lewis being known inside the U.S. (ie."due to being around Scherzinger a lot of the time). Even after all these years post-Scherzinger, hardly anyone here in the U.S. knows who he is.

 

BS--my kids and their friends know who Lewis is and know jack nothing about F1 nor do they care about it. It is all about social media, they think that he is the greatest of all time yet they have zero knowledge of or context for F1. He relentlessly promotes himself on social media because it benefits the 44 brand(gee is that a reference to Hank Aaron or a derivation of his Dad's R number). That is "utter bollocks".

Many celebrities, none celebrities, companies use social media for promotion. Did this suddenly become a bad thing if Lewis does it? Why is he singled out?
Obviously the people you mention sees something about him to give them reason to follow him.

I don't know how I'd quantify it, but everyone I know who's into racing knows who Hamilton is. He's not Michael Jordan, but he has a strong following.

 

He’s obviously a top end driver but I’ve also seen his perpetually cringeworthy actions, listened to his self touting post-race interviews and in-car whining rants starting from GP2. This photo sums it up; shares the champagne not with management, his race engineer or a team clerk or mechanic. Typical. Never fond of him and pleased he has never driven for my favourite team.

False, at least with respect to the United States. "Urban Marketing" is not the "targeting younger people" the closest thing to that would be "Millenials". "Urban Marketing" is WIDELY known as being political correct speech to mean people of color and those that follow the culture of people of color in the United States.

I looked on the Mercedes-Benz weblink you posted. I'm not seeing the connection/nexus between the GLA Urban Edition to Lewis Hamilton.

Thank you. Sadly the issues between Terra and his ilk have been run longer and when they're truly grasping at straws, they've been known to seek a racial aspect to posts negative about Hamilton. Time and time again, nothing been further from the truth.

As i've said before to him...my niece is ''a person of colour'', and I provide for her. If I was the nasty racist he says I am, why would I do that?

I should try and find the post when they accused another member here of racism..the member they talked about was black!

Why would you jump to that conclusion...

Reports across Europe have heavily linked the Scuderia with a big-money swoop to pinch Hamilton and take him to Maranello.

But he declared on social media in response: "First off, there is no dream of a dash to another team. I am with my dream team.

“Second, there’s not a thing in my way as I’m not trying to move.

Lewis has no intention of leaving Mercedes, why would he? The flirtation with Ferrari was vanity to a degree(Ferrari wants me) but really to justify his salary demands. With Vettel available Toto will now be offering considerably less than Lewis expects.

 

This might even end up with Lewis leaving F1 instead of Vettel
