Enzo Ferrari on the Jaguar E-Type

    Hi all,

    I'm not trying to beat a (possibly dead) horse, but while doing some other searches I came across this old photo again. Now I did a couple of searches here for "0483SA" but it looked like the image was NLA, I know I have seen it here before and I found a few threads on "0483SA", but as my point here is about the people and not just the cars here it is again. (NOT my photo)

    So how many people can you recognize? I can name only three people:

    William "Bill" Heynes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Heynes
    Lofty England https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lofty_England

    and of course: (posing behind the 410 / 0483SA)

    Alfonso de Portago https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfonso_de_Portago

    Now what makes this interesting IMO is that the two Englishmen, a very tall one (Lofty) and one shorter (Bill), were also in Geneva 1961. Four and a half years later. Alfonso de Portago obviously was not, as he had been killed in the 1957 Mille Miglia.

    My point? Only that people like the chief engineer of Jaguar Cars (Bill) and the Jaguar Cars Racing Team manager and later Jaguar Cars CEO (Lofty) actually did stroll around and talk to people at the Ferrari or Pininfarina stands at shows like this, be it Paris, Turin or Geneva. They all look friendly if you ask me. nice atmosphere, maybe this was taken before the show opened or something for the press and organisers which is typical.

    It would be nice to know who the guy they were talking to was and whether he was French or Italian? :)

    PS. About how tight the circles may have been I found it fascinating the before WW2 Lofty had been a race engineer and then a team manager for the Siamese princes Chula and Bira. :)

    Throughout his time as a race engineer Lofty England maintained his own active motorsport career. An early gift of a Douglas motorcycle from his father had started him on a successful motorcycle racing path. His best result was second place in the 1936 Manx Grand Prix.[2]
