In 1985 I bought the USAG FERRARI Toolbox, a huge tool cabinet with all the tools that were deemed necessary at a race for two (2) Ferrari mechanics working simultaneously They even showed Crewchief Ermanno Cuoghi using it at the track. Perhaps a bit of literary license. So anyway, does anyone have one? What are they worth? Thank you. Regards, Alberto
That's really cool, these must be available from other toolbox companies where you can utilize your own set of tools.
You certainly can, except this set was proposed on a collaboration between Ferrari and USAG. I am only wondering if anyone else has one. Regards, Alberto
There was one available in Europe back in 2016 for €9,000, brand new condition. The USAG website has a comparable toolbox with tools for as little as €2,500.
Alberto, How do you like it? It is certainly great looking, but when I first started working on a Ferrari Challenge race team, we had one, and I was a bit underwhelmed with the quality of both the tools and the cabinet. Could be that the race team environment (despite the advertisement photo) was just too rugged for it. Thanks, gp
I've had my USAG tool cabinate for 30 years, not as heavy duty as Snap on but with a little care works great. I just bought another USAG tool cabinate that is like new on craigslist.
I really like it, yet not incredible quality, and some tools are practically unusable as they apply only to very specific apps. The ratchet mechanism leave a lot to be desired... Regards, Alberto
I know this tread is already a few years old. However would like to share mine USAG tool cabinet. It was originally used by Ferrari Kroymans during their participation of the Challenge races with their 348/355. It is still wearing the original decals. Unfortunately no more tools and in need of same TLC. I love its condition and history. Great thread! I helped a friend this week haul a Snap On box, a little bit larger than shown here......empty, off to the Pawn....:/ He was hoping the market value would yield $600 each for the bottom section, and then there was a top unit, as shown here. Snap On is well made of course but IMO outrageously priced. It was an afternoon's work to take the drawers out, load it to my truck, and reassemble. He got $150..... There's huge value in the tools of course. I would put the value of this Ferrari box, loaded, between $2500 to $3000USD? Did we ever find a recent sale???
Bis Tex, I think he got ripped off by the pawn shop. $150 for all??? Issue as stated with those tool boxes is they are PIA to move and expensive to ship. I have been looking for years for two drawers for the older snap on tool box to complete my used tool box. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Well, it was as a Pawn, so really the lower number may be best! Sure enough I looked at the Snap On "Southern Thunder" NASCAR themed box and they sell for about $6,000, even used. Not that WE would want one....
More impressive was the pistol the manager was wearing ready on his belt... The car lots had messages on the windows, like "Got Deported" on a nice Nissan 380Z....
No, no luck in valuations, but it was only curiosity, as never for sale. That, as long as I am around, and my kids know that it is rare My guess, unless very careful and diligent, most of these toolboxes, depleted a few tools at a time, then became other assorted tool holders, but a fully loaded original? Very few... Regards, Alberto
I have a fully loaded original. Never lost a tool just keep adding. I bought this in the 80s when USAG was the F1 Ferrari supplier. These tools are designed lean. They just fit on many places on ferraris that fat tools just no go. Many places engineered with just one turn on a flat of a hex bolt. I use it every day. Image Unavailable, Please Login
