Who else is so bored that they will be watching a Nascar race this Sunday?
Darlington is one of my favorite tracks, they're racing Sunday and then again on Wednesday. kudos to NASCAR for taking the leap. hopefully other sports follow suit (looking at you, MLB)
Interesting. With the recent ruling by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, do you think that they might change their mind regarding spectators?
It would be nice for the locals. Bit of a drive for me to get there, so the spectators' presence doesn't matter much to me, as I only see TV coverage anyway. Stick and ball sports, I can see the crowd enthusiasm helping.
I hope that NASCAR dresses the stage with some blowing trash--plastic bags, burger wrappers and "fallen soldiers". It will help to create the ambiance, an air of authenticity in the absence of the hoi polloi.
I'll give it a look, it's not like there is any other racing venues happening now. I like the idea of starting positions being chosen at random, should add some interesting early battles to the front, if they don't all wreck out.
Now the big test, try watching the entire race without the aide of alcohol and see just how boring NASCAR really is. BHW
If I recall, Darlington is one of the oval circuits where they are able to get some separation. When it comes to the grid, I have no idea what "normal" is, so . . . whatever . . . .
Pearson fan here but always liked the Plymouths. Not sure David ever drove one but he must have at some point...? He drove everything else. NASCAR ? Can’t stomach a highlight reel these days. I’m out.
Tried to watch, couldn't. Was nice to have it on, kinda like the German soccer this morning....something else I don't care about. I forgot about 'competition cautions', i.e., anti- competition cautions.
I watched the whole thing, it beat the hell out of watching sim racing, but also a reminder of how bad NASCAR races are...the stages ruin it. might as well just run a 100 lap race.
Stages are idiotic artifice. I nodded-off twice in the first 70 laps w/o alcohol, sorry it doesn't hold my interest. I've attended the Southern 500 twice but I just wasn't feeling it. Went for a walk instead.
I watched Superbowl XIII Steelers vs Coboys. Bradshaw vs Staubach. Went down to the last two minutes. Curt Gowdy did the play by play.
Like others I nodded off during the early stages, awoke and went to the garage to spend my time instead.
