My son and I decided to take this project on about 1 month ago. I had 2 cars a BMW Z8 and a 2020 MB E Class wagon done about about 6 months ago at a shop in Glendale, Ca. The guys charged me $400 per car and it took 1 day. They did a very nice job, but my son and I watched while my car was waiting while they were doing a Lambo Hurracan and a Rolls Phantom. After 6 months both cars still look great. Trust me I'am very particular about my cars. I would only have Sticker city do my PPF, I have tried other guys and no one comes close. As per paintwork on a Ferrari beside the FOBH collision is David Freed at Prestige in Carson. So being quarantined , I decided to buy 2 jacks and an impact gun ,2 socket sets (1/2 in and 3/8in) painters tape. VHT caliper paint ($8 per can which will do 4 calipers. , self etching primer, stencils from eBay etc ($7.00 ) . (acetone , sand paper, wire brushes, dremel, wheel chucks jack stands ) Our first attempt was a test subject , 2002 RR 4.6. It came out perfect. We were amazed of the outcome. So then we decided to do 2 other cars. I compared our work to my friends 2020 MB E63s Wagon with CCB and our work was nicer. The MB caliper is cast and not smooth. unlike the Ferrari or Porsche. I would not attempt to window tint a car or do PPF, but it is a very easy DIY task and fun. I'm sure if you have a Pagani or La Ferrari maybe have it powder coated , but any car that you drive regularly this is the way to go. In the end it takes about 1 1/2 hours per side. If you mess up all you have to do is take acetone start over.
I just had my ceramic brake calipers changed from black to yellow. This process took a few days as mine were removed, disassembled, cleaned, original color was removed, they were painted, painted again, baked, Ferrari sticker placed on them, clear coated, and then baked again. Brake calipers were assembled and placed back on vehicle. I even had the emergency rear brake calipers done. This cost me $1,300. Well worth the money spent! So you spray painted? Did you remove the calipers completely or keep the brake lines connected and paint inside the wheel well? What were your "from" and "to" colors? You used a stencil instead of a sticker? I ask because this is my next DIY. Plan to paint my silver CCB calipers giallo. Original plan was to use G2 self-leveling brush on (good success on my Maser), but am willing to try the VHT route for the price. BTW, I've had great success with VHT wrinkle paint on my throttle bodies. Painted them dark grey...the texture matches the intake covers but the dark grey nicely offsets the red.
