Hi everyone, so just took the 612 out of winter storage. Checked the engine oil level - saw the clear marker about checking it running , but couldn’t see any oil at all on the dipstick. I was nervous about starting it without any oil. I then filled it until it made the lowest level on the stick. I then started it and re-checked the level and now found it to be about an inch over the max level. Now I’m kinda concerned that I have over fulled and what damage this might cause. Anyone else had this issue or advise from here?any advise greatly appreciated.

Drain it ! Study dry sump lubrication systems to understand why the measurement techniques are different to wet sump.

If it all sounded normal, then I doubt you’ve put in enough oil to cause any real damage. More likely is oil carry over into the intake.

If you’re really worried about overfilling, then take the bellows off the intakes or maybe even pop the top manifold covers off. You’ll get an idea if you’ve overfilled if there’s a lot of oil pooling. This will eventually lead to engine management issues if it’s not cleaned out.

Have a look on YouTube for SamCrac videos where he did the same thing to his 360.

Get a turkey baster and suck the excess out. If no symptoms, you may have gotten lucky.

Thanks for the suggestion, I was thinking same - via refill nozzle or dipstick port?
