Personally I'm fine with someone with good mechanical knowledge doing the very simple things and documenting them.
For all scheduled servicing and more complicated jobs I want to see stamps in the book and documentation from a professional Ferrari mechanic or a dealer.

If I enquired on a car that's going to cost a couple of hundred k at least and discovered Old Mate did all the work in his back shed that's where my enquiry would end. It's not just the lack of stamps in the book, it's the impression of cheap-skating that would put me off.

That may be unfair and obviously others feel differently, but it's my money.

That's quite interesting. I had a 570GT which I got as a demonstrator. it was a great car but extremely noisy fan noise in traffic. But I did have issues with the dashboard. It would constantly switch off and shut the car down. The dash eventually got replaced but started playing up again so it had to go. But still was a great driving car. Just not a fan of the iPad dash

I agree I have been doing 95% of the maintenance myself in a proper mechanics garage. All my services are documented and all receipts are kept to know what has been replaced or repaired. If someone was to buy my Hot Rodded OHOS and was questioning dealer stamps then it's not the car for them. One look at it and you know the car is not normal. But it is well documented though.

Dealer wanted to charge me $4000 for a belt change saying it was an engine out job. Laughed walked out and done the belt change myself by removing the rear right wheel to have full access to the belts. cost me about $300 in parts as I used the HE belt tensioner bearings

Didn't have gearbox issues in mine. Must of been one of the lucky ones. Just had issues with dash. Drive it daily for about 3 months before the dash gremlin arrived

yeah sounds perfectly reasonable with me, which is where I was getting at before in regards to scheduled servicing, especially majors. Having history that stretches back for years is really important, especially for older cars (I'm talking specifically F cars, not Volkswagen's or customs).

It gets a little greyer when you start talking about interim services and repairs. I recently replaced all the rotors on my 355 for example. It's a dead simple job and saved a lot of hassle and expense (plus it was bonding time).

I also wouldn't feel comfortable not maintaining that official service history on my car for scheduled maintenance either...

I was just curious how you guys felt with that stuff that fits in the middle. Replacing worn out parts, performing minor repairs and maintenance etc.

This or a 488? If I were to be choosing, which I'm not, I don't know which way I'd go.

    488. When McLaren goes bust you won't even be able to get an oil change done. Not to mention most owners have no end of issues.

The limiting factor has always been the current draw for the actuators. Lotus developed one in the early 90's, I think, but it was only ever a lab prototype. I think the much higher voltages of a hybrid set up makes it viable.

I never said I was interested BUT there could be the odd(very) person here who's a closet car ,and other, badge collector.
As an example, here are 3 HK badges that a certain person COULD be interested in given her love of the place.

EGGZACKERY.! Doesn't every ex owner of a Triumph Stag want to remind themselves of that....

....and I thought you could have been a starter for some of that stuff for your rapidly growing eclectic collection......
