    Apologies if I'm breaking protocol here (the link above tells me it's no longer available), but I was curious to see what Volair had discovered. After incaclulable hours'-worth of painstaking attempts to fix the sticky plastic with expensive chemicals etc., today I found the fix - and I feel pretty stupid...

    ...soap (plus about 1L of water in a bucket, and sponge witha scourer). Sorry again if this isn't how to post but I couldn't see how to PM you, Ernie, and the revelation combined with the sheer joy of not having black goo on my hands every time I put the key in the lock, is immeasurable!
