Something about Camellini Family 340 MM 0280AM story, 1000miglia 1953 edition winner with driver Giannino Marzotto, taken from http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/0280AM.340MM.htm that is a very nice free site about old cars.

    53/apr/12 1st OA 1st S+2.0 Giro di Sicilia Luigi Villoresi/P. Cassani #444 "BO 21599" (prova)
    53/apr/25-26 1st OA 1st S+2.0 Mille Miglia Giannino Marzotto /Marco Crosara #547
    53/jul/11 4th OA 1st S Leinster Trophy Wicklow Bobbie Baird - car rolled - was this really 0280AM ?
    53 - Elio Checcacci, Prato, I "FI 77113"
53/sep/05-13 dnf Tour de France Elio Checcacci/Gentili #10 "FI 66478"
55/mar/01 - Silvano Mazzoni, Florence, I - fitted with headrest and repainted red with white nose and stripe
    55/mar/12 - Ugo Scotti, Empoli, I
55/may/09 - car confiscated upon request of Renzo Rogai, Firenze, I
    55/aug/01 - Ottorino Mancini, Empoli, I
    64 - Mario Camellini, Modena, I
    87/may/09 - Umberto Camellini, Modena, I

Maybe it's not 100% accurate, but it's free and and a valid starting point.

    ciao

You may want to correct your files.
The second period photo showing a Vignale Spider with race #10 at the 1953 Tour de France does NOT show 0280 AM. It does show a 166 MM Spider Vignalre #0328 M with Elio Checcacci.
And the Italian plates are fake and from a Fiat.
Also, Checcacci acquired 0280 AM not in 1953 but on the 21 May 1954.

    Marcel,
Did not #10 at the 1953 Tour de France have three portholes ? 0328/M only two ?

Three portholes do not automatically make the car (in the 1953 Tour de France) 0280 AM.
The 1953 Tour de France Automobile began 5 September 1953.
The car in the 1953 TdF has license plates from Florence "FI 66478". These plates are from a FIAT, not from a Ferrari.
Body details differ from 0280 AM, look at the ridge of the hood, etc.
And the license plate (registration) of 0280 AM was completely different, it was Florence "FI 77113".
Elio Checcacci purchased 0280 AM on the 21st May 1954 only (according to the paperwork).

Marcel, as I wrote, they are not "my files": they are written on the link http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/0280AM.340MM.htm and they are free for all (me too): I don't know anything about old cars. I'm humble and I go reading searching info: I think that's a good free site to start learning something.

Maybe you could be so kind to write them and explaing (if you can) why that's not the #10 Ferrari 340 MM 0280 AM with Elio Checcacci driving at 1953 Tour de France Automobile. As said, I don't know anything and so I can't give 50 years old racing pictures to Bacchelli & Villa body shop, but here there is another site that states the same thing: Elio Checcacci drove the Ferrari 340MM 0280Am #10 race number at 1953 Tour de France Automobile: please check here below. Not the 166, sorry.

Maybe you can write them too, asking to correct their files.

I already wrote that the barchetta.cc site "Maybe it's not 100% accurate", as I saw an error in their data: the plate "FI 77113" is not from 1954. It's from 1955: ACI data files, official, no errors. I don't know anything, but I can ask ACI public Italian car register and then learn how things are.

What I saw, is that the barchetta.cc site doesn't show any new owner after 1964 except Camellini: you wrote on post #22 "...And between 1964 and 1987 this car had other owners. Umberto Camellini, whom I have known since decades, purchased it only on the 9th of May 1987."

The site shows that Umberto Camellini (whom I don't know, not only since decades), purchased it only on May 09, 1987 as you stated, but he got if from his father, Mario Camellini. Or, at least, according to that site.
I just phoned local ACI office and I asked for all the file of that 0280AM: I'm curiuos to learn who is right and who is not.

    ciao

No need to call ACI. I have all the documents already and that since many years.
Umberto C. did not get it from his father. There was a person in between. I prefer to not publish the name here.
As for any websites, none is perfect, we all know that, and I am not perfect either. And that's exactly one of the many reasons why I don't maintain a site. History is never complete and finished, everybody learns something new every day. Like a big puzzle that is never complete.
