Any thoughts on this one? https://www.cardealfinder.com/autos/ferrari/1983-ferrari-mondial-coupe-qv-110153.html Here's the reply I got when I contacted the seller: "I'm looking for a quick sale as I'm currently in a difficult situation. Please let me explain what happened. A guy from Miami was very interested and I agreed to close the deal with a cash on delivery transaction. The day the vehicle arrived in Miami, he told me that his loan was not approved and the deal is off. The situation got even better a few days ago as I'm currently doing my shift off-shore in the Gulf of Mexico. The shipping company is now holding the vehicle in Miami, FL. The good thing is that they also provide escrow protection for long distance transactions. Basically you get to inspect the vehicle before the deal is closed and I'm protected from buyers who don't actually have the funds to make a purchase. So... if you want to buy a new toy and don't need approval from a third party, please let me know and I can make the necessary arrangements right away." Suspicious?
Scam, scam, scam. Don't walk, run. There is no escrow company and there is no car. Once that money goes into "escrow", it's gone. Poof. That website is not a legitimate listing website, either. Those kind of "scraper" websites just scrape existing ads, and sometimes change contact data to the scammers.
Not sure why anyone would try to buy a Ferrari via websites like those. Also, the pictures in those ads are more than a year old. And that poor car comes up for sale regularly. Here's the same car but with less mileage and in FL. http://www.2040-cars.com/Ferrari/Mondial/1983-ferrari-mondial-quattrovalvole-coupe-2-door-3-0l-197795/
I figured the ad I posted above was fake -- too cheap, for one thing. But it looks like all of these ads are scams. A depressing look at the reptilian underworld of used car sales.
True, if it isn't listed by a reputable source then buyer/surfer beware. I listed the photos previously but forgot to include the link earlier. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/146459433/
I think I saw the real car about 4 years ago - summer of 2016 - at Fast Cars in Redondo Beach. The real car was in excellent condition. Can't say the same for the imaginary one!
Used Ferrari buying is playing with a loaded gun at the best times. IMO it's better to search only at reputable dealers or through known members on forums, and if it costs a bit more, just "pay the 2 dollars" as the saying goes.
