Ferrari Pista Exhaust tips chipping

Never seen that before. Doesn’t seem to be heat damage, as I don’t see the typical discoloring associated with that phenomenon. Coating is definitely affected. Seems like small impact craters. Gravel maybe? Any other impact marks in the rear end?

Can’t elaborate any further, but having blackened exhaust tips myself, I’m curious to see what other more knowledgeable members have to say when they check in.

jk, the good news is those tips are super easy to replace as they're not connected to the full exhaust system.

 

This issue is starting on my Pista as well... I have 1,900 km on the clock... will claim the problem at my dealer of course

A bad batch of coating, perhaps? Strange for those issues to appear so soon.

I would think they mount from the inside of the bumper? If so bumper has to come off. Not a huge deal and a lot easier than an attached tailpipe but think it would be a two person job and you have to know where all the snaps and connections are located.

About 3,500 cars difference is quite a lot, about 3 months of production I guess

 

I began to see some of the ceramic wearing near the tips. I touched up with high heat paint. If they start peeling I will remove them and have them coated again. The Pista I have has 670 miles on and arrived in January of this year.

 

those black exhaust are very delicate, I had them on my 488 GTB and eventually I got a huge scrach on top ov it like the black "skin" was coming off the exhaust.
I think I will never go again for black exhaust tips, to delicate, I had to respray them...on my Pista I went for the titanium ones.

 

I did the same after reading about some of the concerns. That said, I had black tips on the 458 and I never had any chipping issues.

 

Mine wasn't like chipping but like somebody passed close to the exhaust removing the black porous coating leaving the bare "pinkish" material underneath.
Way to delicate in my opinion, never again!

 

Just to let you know that Ferrari has replaced my black ceramic exhaust tips under warranty and w/o questions back to my dealer (he sent pics).

So it looks like this is a known issue in Maranello.

 

Any idea if the part number is different/new relative to the black tips w/ the issue?

My buddy had his replaced twice and they keep doing the same thing. The coating is very fragile.

 

From eurospares it seems the "cosmetic tail pipe - black" has been replaced, however the new provided code is confusing since it seems to direct to another car model part.

 

Mine are doing the same. Ugh

 

Interesting and for reference mine is 248334 and has about 1500 miles the black tips look fine no issue
