    In Nov I picked up a 2007 GT3.
The paint protect film was yellowing (white car) and has since been removed.
It is slated to go in next week to get new film applied.

The 355 is going in after that for a full hood covering. The 1/2 hood was peeling.

They just asked what film I want:

    3M Pro Series Ver4
    Xpel
    Suntek
    Premium-Shield.

I am not up to speed on these films and assumed I only had 3M as a choice.

Any of you detailing / film experts have any suggestions or guidance?
Your opinions would be most appreciated.

BTW, quoted $2500 for full hood, fenders, mirrors and rear splash guards. Thoughts?

My former 360 Spider had Expel Ultimate installed and I can attest to it's self healing capabilities. A rock thrown up from the front tire sliced the material near the lower air scoop. The PPF protected the paint and was able to be repaired with a heat gun to where it was not noticeable.
I specified the same product for the 2015 458 Spider that I purchased in January. I agree with ag512bbi that the pricing is in the ballpark. I also understand that Expel recently released a 10mil product which is thicker than the PPF I have on my car. You might want to also look into material thickness.

Suntek or xpel. Definitely not 3M. I have 2 vehicles wrapped in Suntek and like it. The installer really matters here. I have a horror story on one of my cars due to bad installer. Price is ball park; maybe a tad high but sum installers will remove the headlights on a Porsche since it is hard to get a clean, hidden edge otherwise around the lights etc

What I don’t understand is why don’t the car manufacturers do this?

That is a great question, one which I cannot answer. However, most dealership for new and used cars does offer this as an upgrade. Noteworthy is the fact that dealers sell floor mats on pretty much all new vehicles as an upgrade. We have a 458 Italia currently in our shop, which was acquired by our client that came without floor mats. Sadly, for many car dealers, the selling of a car is only a transaction.

You don't want them doing it. Even when you pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a car, the paint finish from the factory is far from perfect. (cough Ferrari ;))
The car finish first needs to be detailed by someone who knows what they're doing. Otherwise you're putting film over a flawed finish.

Can't go wrong with Suntek or Xpel. Both are self healing

This product is new to the market place and I am sure it will be a suitable product. Who is installing the film, how experienced are they with paint protection film will be a great question have answered. Visit the shop where the product is being installed, meet the people, and look at work they have completed.

So what did ya go with? I’m trying to decide between Suntek Ultra or STEK dyno... 2 installers local to me recommend these.

The brands you mentioned are of high quality. The decision rest with your assessment of the installer.

I had 3M on my white R8, started to yellow within 2 years. Xpel Stealth on my GT3, looks great after 2 years - Matte film on Agate Grey. Xpel on 458, front clip. No yellowing on white car. Would look at full wrap.
