I am eyeing a 360 with tired tan seats. I know that you can rejuvenate them, but I tried all of that once and just made a big mess. Can an upholstery shop simply re-upholster them with new leather back to factory look? Anyone done this? Cost? Pros/cons?

Wow I'll say you did! That job might cost more than the car! :D Very, very nice.

Get in touch with Richard. His prices are very reasonable especially if you just do the seats.

I think a re-dye is worth a try since it is relatively inexpensive.

This thread has a nice pic of before/after of what can be done with cracked and faded leather:
    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/connolly-leather-dye-question.444211/

This article is about an older Ferrari but I believe the 360 is also lacquered Connolly:
    http://www.leatherique.com/do_it_your_self_instruction/ferrari-re-dye-by-mike-char.html

When I had some piping replaced, the upholstery guy showed me a catalog (maybe Gahh) that had complete Daytona leathers that would fit the standard 360 seats but I think they were in the $5k range. Good upholstery person can likely do as good of a job for much cheaper using the current seat leather as a pattern.

This is an interesting idea. My standard seats are kind of tired looking and. Have often thought about reupholstering and changing to daytona style center sections. Has anyone converted to daytona seats? Is there a reupholstery kit for this..

I think I paid a little less than $3k for a pair of seats, but I removed and reinstalled them.
As far as cons, most shops (maybe all) can't emboss the prancing horse in the headrest.

Looks like you can get brand new covers with the embossed horseys here, for $4200. Another $800 to install I would assume.

Two reasons they can't put an embossed Cavalino on the seats:
    1) The Cavalino is a trademark and they can not legally us it or add it
    2) Embossing leather takes a die set. They would have to have a set of dies made and use a press to do the embossing. Dies cost a lot of money, particularly given #1 above and that they could lose everything over it

Why not spend a bit more than a simple re-upholster and have the 'Daytona' inserts added. There is a popular re-upholsterer that does it.

that looks really nice. Mine are actually in really good shape overall - no rips or tears - just needing some refurb. A company called Fibre New came and got them this a.m. He said they will look as new for $400. Probably take him 3 days.

I had my seats "expertly" resprayed for $400 before I picked up my car. They looked great that day, but despite being extremely careful about getting in and out of the car, the fix was temporary and now looks shabby. This is a case of "you get what you pay for." I guess in retrospect, for $400, it gave me a couple months illusion that my seats were fine. Probably a good thing to do right before putting the car on the market, along with stuffing bananas in the transmission.

I'm going to save my pennies and get the $5k recover with official leather when I can't stand it any longer.

I also had the respray done on my arm rest. This was many years ago. It looked perfect. A year later, it looked the same as before. They didn't even tell me they resprayed the area, I just assumed they had replaced the leather in that section. I am also thinking of doing the leather covers. GAHH sent me a leather sample (tan) and it is a match. I'm going to speak to them today about the thread weight and color. Everyone says "tan/tan" but in reality, the thread color for the standard tan seats is actually more of a cream color.

FYI I am researching the seat cover option. GAHH sent me a tan leather sample and it is a match. They are also sending me a leather sample with stitching so I can confirm the stitching color and weight. I asked them for pictures of 360 seats with Daytona inserts that they have used their covers on, and how they resolved the embossed head rest issue.

I posted this on another thread but just in case it's useful, I had a co. called Fibre Renew work on my seats and I think they came out well. $400 for the pair. How long they look good? I'll report back.
