Was searching the threads for more information to no avail. Manual says use Pennzoil 5w-w40 racing Platinum. Anyone know if this is the same oil? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes that's it. Walmart, online, sells it at a great price. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The manual says Pennzoil platinum racing 5w-40w....the racing part had me confused. Thx for the heads up on buying options.
If I’m not mistaken, for a while now, Ferrari V8 use 5W-40 as per owners’ manual. However I favor 10W-60. Seems to me a better oil to cope with high air temperatures (I live in Southern Europe) and spirited, hard driving. But if the manual says 5W-40, who am I to disagree. Kind regards, Nuno.
Pennzoil told me this morning; The Pennzoil Racing is a different motor oil than the Platinum Euro oil; The Racing stuff has a part number of 550051259. I can't seem to find it for purchase so far.
The 2020 bottles that I have run across here in the Houston area, do not. They do not mention anything about Ferrari on them front or back. The packing date on the bottle in this picture is 17Mar20. You can't see in the picture but the cap on these bottles is white. The Pennzoil item number for the recommended Racing Oil is 550051259. I was able to find it in the Houston area from a Pennzoil distributor; They are having to order it for me. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The part number you suggest is for 5w-60w....at least that’s what comes up when I google it. Did you Find it in 5w-40w?
Knock yourself out. Ferrari gives 7 years free maintenance so no need for me to worry about it. Cheers
Ferrari recommends Penzoil because Penzoil (Shell) gives them a lot of funds on the F1 endorsement sponsor deal. It’s a good oil but you are not bound by brand to use that oil. As long as you use the correct weight synthetic oil your warranty is not affected. Call Ferrari and ask them this. My local dealer and the other dealer I bought my car from uses Pekelo which is what the Risi race team uses and again due to sponsorship
I can agree with your statements; I just prefer to use what the manufacturer recommends on such an expensive car.
Yes, I was able to find it through a Pennzoil distributor here in the Houston area. Shell talks about it here: https://solutions.shell.com/us/products/Pennzoil_Platinum_Racing_5W_40__001G9865
I got the Pennzoil Racing in; I can confirm the bottle says 550051259 on the 5W-40. For all it's worth, it has the "Recommended by Ferrari" destination on the back.
My dealer always supplies 2 x bottles of engine oil and leaves them in the front boot. Is this not standard practice? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Who is your deaWhen I took delivery of new cars I also always found two bottles of oil in the frunk or trunk. But when they perform the oil service, I never got an extra 2 bottles. Which service center do you use in LA?
Beverly Hills. So are you saying they used your two bottles on your service? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Hi! Yes I take my car to Beverly Hills too. No when I pickup my car upon completion of the scheduled oil service, they don’t give me any extra bottles of oil for me to take home. another question, what brand of oil do they give you?
