As a DD you'd be astounded by the level of comfort and refinement found in the 488. Both can be dailied, but I definitely think it has the 45i licked in this area. If you prefer one design over the other or one engine over the other, that's purely subjective. But in terms of a few more objective ways, the 488 cannot be beat by the 458. Two areas which would annoy the crap out of me if I had to daily a 458, would be the ridiculously jerky shifts and the overly sensitive throttle. While both cars have an ESC system that is a bit on the intrusive side, there's no getting away from the fact that the 488 is better honed in this area and the implement of the SSC definitely makes for a bit of added fun. I'm a 458 owner and voted 458 in the poll but I would have to agree on the "sensitive throttle" comment. I think it fits spirited driving well but not daily driving.
If you are thinking about a 488 over a 458, you do need help lol I've owned and daily driven both. My vote goes to the 458, hands down. Ray
drove 458 and 488 back to back. chose 488. so much of this boils down to personal preference. nothing replaces driving both and choosing the one you prefer.
Not really. Keep in mind most here can have whatever they want and aren't necessarily still in 458's. I also note Dusty hasn't been able to detach from his Pista avatar yet and it's been gone for a month or two. So maybe he hasn't yet decided if getting rid of his Pista was exactly his best move lol. I'm sure he still has photos reflecting all those fond memories in his past 3 458's gone...
Because most 458 users (not all of course) really treasure the car. I dont see so many 488 users telling passionate stories about that model thats all. Still, when the weather is nice I will drive a 720s spider and hopefully I wont like it or we will have trouble...
To each their own. No wrong choices. I find the 458’s to be thrilling at sane and posted speeds, and not too many modern cars can claim that in my experience. I did buy a 488 spider and a Pista but didn’t excite me in the least. Lusso12 I found more rewarding to drive, and that’s a barge in comparison. if only i can be smart and not sell this 458 so I don’t end up with a 5th in a few years.
I think Pista looks the best, then 458 Spider, then Speciale/488. Subjective of course. I am a sucker for the 458’s rear engine bonnet vents.
I agree which is why I will likely keep my Pista for a while but would like to add a Speciale as well.
I'm keeping my 458 spider forever, I will never sell it. I have had 2 before but, this one is the keeper. Everytime I drive the car it bring a big smile to my face, I just wish it hadn't been at the dealer for the past 2 weeks having the service and corrections to the ppf they did badly in the first place I get it back soon as the weather is still not bad in the UK at the moment.
Hi everyone, I am planning to buy a 458 spider or a 488 spider. From a depreciation point of view, which car would be better to put your money in today?
My advice is to ignore depreciation and pick the one you like most and drive the hell out of it. Live for the moment.
