My buddy, during my recent interior refresh, pointed out the door panel plug for the emergency window crank on the 308! I learn some weird thing about this car every day.

I researched this here and apparently there was a member who made 50 of them but didnt go into further production. I believe that was in 2005. I have not seen a listing for any others.

Anyone know where I could get one for the car, either original or repro? My bud fixed the barely operative RH door window, but I would love to have known about the ability to actually raise and lower that window when it was refusing to move by switch.

So these came in the original tool kit? Those are cheap. Is there a correct photo somewhere of one from 1979?

Looked at ebay. Tony Randazzo has a new one for $500. There's 2 others used, that look more like the pics Ive seen (no "gear" on the end) for $366.

    Ummm...

That would be the Early Version, it looks like a speed wrench handle and ends in a diamond shaped head, to jam in.

The later style is a bevel gear, looking thing and I have no idea about that one.
My tools are stored away but I think I have an early one.

I will sell you my original, I have never ever used it on three cars....

Sorry John, is that "No, it's correct for a QV" or "No(t) correct for a QV"? Just trying to be explicitly clear...

Thanks Gordon, that’s the clarification I was going to ask... is this correct for QV or not correct for QV? I am asking about a ‘79 carb 308.

So, John, do you believe the photo I pictured is correct for ‘79 GTS?

And here’s what the tool would be inserted in, with the plug removed:

John, in looking at the “business end” of both my picture and yours, does it look like essentially the same tool with a different handle?

With the 2 “flares” it looks like it would fit into my receptacle and turn it. I don’t know how that other one with the year end would work.

Yes, for sure. The T handle just appears to be a design revision. Easier to use, perhaps.

The speed wrench style "pointed tip" (as I posted) is "early 308" which IMO where the 79s fall.

The spiral bevel is the "much later, Version 2" style, and by the 328 the whole thing disappeared.

I have the exact same one for my '75 308GT4. It doesn't work. I recently removed my window motors for a clean/regrease and there's no way it will work. The pointed "business" end below the dimples is over an inch too long to fit into the hub, which is not hollow all the way through. I'm considering cutting and reshaping that end so it would be useful, but I'm reluctant to modify an original part. Maybe I'll just get one of those Superperformance replicas and modify it.

Post #8 may not have worked for Mike's GT4 but absolutely it worked on a friend's 79 GTS
