07085 is being restored back to standard configuration by DK Engineering, and having the added GTO '64 and 250 LM body features that were completed by Carrozzeria Brandoli in 1991 removed, so that the car can be Ferrari Classiche certified.

It seems a shame to wipe away a car's history to obtain a little red book.

I don't think it is about a red book, it rather is about original configuration.
    Born Blu Scuro.

I was referring to the features that were documented in the video, rather than the colour. It seems to me that they are part of that individual car's history and so worthy of preservation. It might be different if they were hideous, or poorly executed, but my impression is that they are neither. Each to his own, I guess.

I loved how it looked. Shame. Some people are no fun....

These mid-1980s body modifications were done 20 (twenty) years after the car was built (in March 1965), clearly not in period and not for the original owner. In the mid-80s these cars were "cheap" (relatively). The trend nowadays is to go back to the original specs and configuration and also back to original colors (in the case of 07085 this is Bleu Scuro Metallizzato 18942 M with Connolly leather Grigio VM 3230).

In the long run, and in the case of this car it is a very long run, I would agree with Marcel.

I agree that it returning to as built is preferable to 20 year onward changes. I am also a big supporter of returning to original as built colorations. On this point I wish that IAC/PFA would adopt this as their standard.

If it were an early Porsche 911 everyone would be calling it an Outlaw and charging a premium for it.

Besides, if the non-OEM mods are/were thoroughly photo-documented, any subsequent future owner can always have them easily reinstated, should he/she prefer those over the “stock“ form being currently recreated.
