    Hi guys!
On Sunday after lunch I installed a few parts lying around with my son.
    Here we go!
Main switch off, driver airbag removed and steering wheel removed. Then removed the lower cover of the steering column and removed the aluminum shift paddles and replaced them with carbon (Exotic Car Gear). Cover reattached and Scuderia steering wheel fitted, two plugs connected, airbag inserted and screwed (and removed twice because Torx screws fell inside the steering wheel.)
Now its time for a cold beer.
Then quickly replace the unworthy footrest (for the unemployed left leg) with a fine part made of the purest aluminum (from Hill Ing.).
    Time for coffee and cake.
But now! Main switch on, wait a bit (a beer or so) because of ECU & TCU and than ignition on. POST (PowerOnSelfTest) and five red LEDs light up briefly. So far others were already. But no error messages. Manettino works exactly as before, all settings like the F430 only the sticker (costs 80 - 100 $ !!!) should be exchanged.
Three hours of working around, looking for tools and clearing away.
But now a cold beer! Bottom up!
The next day test drive. Wait forever until everything is at operating temperature and then Gaaas! And 1,2,3,4,5 red LEDs and then the rev. limiter. That's how it should be!
    But not happy too soon!
This only works from MY08! It has the same ECU in the dashboard as the Scuderia.
Note: with the door lock on the passenger side, no funny LEDs in the steering wheel!
    Greetings at night!

You’ve just answered a question that has been argued back and forth for years. Folks wanting to do this mod ran into the ECU issue and never could get it to work. So the key is the model year. Awesome information and nicely done!

I did this mod several years back. I think I may have been one of the first and it was done on a MY 2005 F430.

Did you run into the ECU issue? I'd love to do this on my MY06 (manufacture date 01/06).

No issue on my 05 F430. It was literally plug and play. But at that time F430addict was trying as well and he couldn't get it to work on his car initially.

I believe he bought someone else’s steering wheel and couldn’t get it to work. And then he bought mine when I sold my F430 and it worked for him. So not sure what made a difference.

Where did you get the Tory bit to remove the air bag screws? I have been trying to locate one but cannot find one that fits

I think Harbor Freight sells a set of security bits if you can’t wait for eBay or mail order.

The reason why you *may* experience issues with this upgrade is down to how this all operates. All the software needs to be in sync on the same release (same CAN ID's sending the correct messages). Technically I could still get it work by deriving the differences on the ECM (Engine management) side of things but it would require a firmware upgrade to work. This would then work regardless of MY.. Hell I could even get it to work on a 360 :)
