Couldn’t resist getting another spider. Hadn’t had a 458 for a little over two years, and one quick drive and the first thought in my head was “God I love these cars!” Instantly fantastic. Noisy and hyper engaging at posted speed limits. Thx to all for *politely* encouraging me to just get another one after disappointing experiences with 488 and Pista and Lusso. Wow 4th 458? That's really gotta say something about how special these cars are!! I'm on my first and appreciating and learning all there about them. Congrats she looks amazing!!!
You want to buy mine? LOL! My intent is to keep this one as it’s a good spec and clean, has >10k miles and I can just drive it. I say this and then I’ll post in 3 months that I’ve sold it.
lol. Love the last sentence. 458 really is something! I remember you also had a blue HP spider right?
Sold and regret selling. HP Spyder is an absolute monster, so drivable, so noisy, so well built. 458 spider is like a 70% as capable and well built car, but the exhaust note in 458 is more organic and variable, and the interior much bigger.
@dustman congrats on the new beauty! Was the HP spider small enough in comparison to the 458 spider that a 6’ guy would be uncomfortable in it? Especially over decently long drives. Torn between the two cars and ergonomics means a great deal to me as my work doesn’t do me any favors in that department!
Awesome ride. That is saying something considering the cars you had before going back to the 458. The newer models are so powerful that it seems real enjoyment requires such speeds that a track is really where you can use the potential. I could be wrong about that, but it is an opinion.
I am 6’2”, and the 458 spider has far more leg and head room than the Performante Spyder. The Perf Coupe is fine, but Spyder loses precious space. I drove the Perf S with my knees up, back uncomfortable and eyes just barely under the front window bar. However, I did take it from SoCal up thru BigSur, to Monterey Bay and back over the course of a few days. Sure, compromised. But well worth it. If you are 6’, you have a good chance with the Perf S. Race seats are horrible in Lambo, as the dealer will attest. Race seats in Ferrari are mandatory IMO, and work exceptionally well.
How did you reconcile your objections to the body flex? The 458 spider is a very desirable car for me but the comments from several owners about the unacceptable amount of body shake has kept me from pursuing one. Can you give me your current thoughts on this. Thank you
Congrats on finding this beautiful car. Nice to know that she will be loved and enjoyed. If you tire of her, it looks like there are many in the wings that would love to own her....... Best wishes, Gene Greer
