Looking at very nice 488 GTB nero but it has the silver stock wheels. Personally I like the mat grey more but... So I wonder what people think of silver wheels on black cars (458 / 488 / ...)?
Easiest thing to change on the car, so it would not stop me from buying the car if everything else is what you want. That being said, I don’t mind the silver wheels.
I like silver...but love brushed bright clear over natural aluminum best. Black cars with a contrast in wheel finish is very nice in my opinion. If you like the car buy it...you can easily have the wheels painted or powder coated and it’s not hard or expensive.
I personally don't like light silver wheels on a sports car, but that shouldn't matter to you. Get it if you like it. Many people think black wheels are played out and prefer silver, while many think black wheels look cooler. Both are valid. Also, preferences change. I used to dislike black wheels and always go matte dark grey, but now I like black. Powdercoating wheels is usually around $1000. If you go aftermarket, expect to spend between $8000-$10000 depending on size and tires.
Caliper colour IMO is more important. I love silver wheels but I also love silver calipers. Not into the whole Ronald McDonald theme. So having said that silver wheels and silver calipers can be put on ANY coloured car and always match.
Silver wheels with silver calipers is sooo boring. Everybody has different taste, buy the car you like, and you can always easily change color of wheels and calipers.
My 458 is Nero Daytona. I had back wheels originally but changed them out to silver. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I love black on black on black. It’s certainly a personal preference and like said before wheel color is something you can VERY easily change. Wheel color should play very little into a decision to buy a car in my opinion due to ease of change unless you are absolutely anal about having everything as it was from the factory. My first Ferrari ... I would never have spec’d it Nero but I saw it I was sold... Let me know if you want a better pic of the wheels. Image Unavailable, Please Login
As others have said wheels are the easiest thing to customize....I powdercoated my diamond finish wheels for $500 or so....better than buying a new set and sitting on used ones which are always a brutal sell.....never let the wheel color guide buying a car....
I disliked my silver wheels on a red car, had them powder coated to gloss black. It is definitely a preference though. My wife loves her chrome wheels on her black 350z roadster. It is hard to make our cars look bad!
