I LOVE that village!!! Comment from my wife when I showed her the video: "They don't wake up there because of such things - they hear this every day..." True: Last year I watched them from the balcony at Planet Maranello Hotel driving a GT3 car from the factory to Fiorano on public roads.
Yeah, but they cannot test a COMPLETE fully assembled model for that year. They can "test" during filming and Pirelli tests the complete fully assembled car. Run through as many components as they want. Otherwise, they can test a component here or component there on mule cars.
One year in Monaco during the Historic GP there was a demo session with fairly recent f1 cars, I think the F1 corse clienti program...it was during the Schumacher era I think. Well I don't recall the specifics but in one of the car there was Luca Badoer, the F1 team's official test driver, and the car he was testing was either that year's current car or as recent as was legal but supposedly they snuck on new bits to test them for the actual GP 2 weeks later. In any case they were very resourceful let's say;-)
I'm genuinely surprised Ferrari hasn't build a mule on a post 2017 car yet, disguised as an LMP1 car. Only thing they can't test with it then is aero surely.
Ferrari's older race cars had Prova labeled on them. I believe they tested them on the public roads before Fiorano.
I bet they did what they could to test some parts some how some way they got some data from this drive around town.
When I was younger and dumber, A friend and I were working on his Formula Ford in my driveway and garage. I lived in a typical pure residential neighborhood. I test drove the Formula car around the streets of the area were I lived! It must of drew 50+ plus kids of all ages to my house. Neighbor kid told me there were kids he never even saw before.
