I have a 2000 360 Modena F1 US Spec. I have a small ding on my rear passanger side quarter panel near the door. I've spoken to a PDR guy and he said if he can get behind it he can fix it. I believe the rear wheel well needs to be removed. How hard it it? I've read somewhere that the oil cooler is mounted above the wheel well and would need to be removed. Is that true? Attached are two pics. The dent is highlighted in green. It's really not visible unless someone points it out but it turns my stomach knowing its there. I also found the door jam is removable. What is easier to remove door jam or wheel well? Image Unavailable, Please Login
The door jam won't give you any access. Do I recall that removing the side skirt gives some access from below?
Those dent guys are pretty amazing. I remember having a few dings removed from one of my 911s. I took panels off and such only to find he didn't need me to. So long as he has a small access hole to insert his tool he's good. But this guy I use is the best. He travels around the country to dealers to repair hail damaged cars on their lots. Maybe ask your guy first to look at the car. Or maybe talk to a couple of guys who do this and perhaps the dealers in your area can recommend someone. Good luck, friend, I know how a small thing like that can get under your skin. But I can tell you, I have done a few small dings myself on my 360 and the aluminum they use in the body is very hard to move. It took me a lot of effort and time to get it gone. Not like sheet metal which seemed to me a bit easier to get "moved" to remove the ding.
The PDR guy came buy today. Removed the door jam panel that did give a couple of access holes. He did an amazing job. Pushed out the dent on the crease. Can't tell it was ever touched! Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you don't mind me asking, about how much did the PDR guy charge for the "surgery?" I have a dent in a similar spot, but a little higher up.
No hole drilled at all. The holes you see are behind the door jam plate. It has about 4 screws and the door strike holding it on. Comes off in just a few min.
Well my guy did this first dent behind the door for $100, I was so impressed with what he did I had 2 more very minor ones removed one on front finder and one on the hood. All three for $250 took him about an hour and he came to my place.
Did you see how your dent guy did the work with the dent on your door? How’d he go about fixing that? Did he need to remove the door card? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I will attach 3 photos. 1st is the dent. 2nd is the very early removed panel and 3rd is the holes he accessed. He did take the door striker off as well. It took him all of 15 min to remove everything push out dent and put it back together. Did that answer your question?
