Asked for 458 already were it seems to be almost impossible to retrofit the OEM parking camera but what about the 488? Since it is in the foglight; is this available?

For the 488 the parking camera is part of the "Genuine" program so that your Ferrari dealer should be happy to install it - the price is a question mark though...

FWIW, the rear camera was a must have but I rarely if ever use it (488 GTB). It's just not very ergonomic given it's location in the right TFT display.

Do you have more information on this?

I already had 2 488 GTB checked and twice factory responded it is impossible because the wiring harness is not in place?

Here is the Ferrari web page for the "Genuine" program:
    https://www.ferrari.com/en-EN/auto/ferrari-genuine-accessories
And here the page describing the parking camera:
    https://auto.ferrari.com/en_EN/ferrari-genuine-accessories/equipments/000000000000030/detail/P000000010/
I don't understand why Ferrari would advertise it and then declare it's impossible (although with Ferrari everything is possible...)

Thank you! That's very weird indeed.

In both occasions they contacted Maranello factory and they said harness was missing so not possible !?!

My dealer did say they could add the camera to mine. But it needed new harness snaked to the dash. Around $1200 for camera and harness. $3000 for labor and programming

Once more factory confirms you can't retrofit the camera to all 488:

"Parking camera kit is available for 488 GTB and Spider without Carplay and for left-hand market is available only if the 488 has the Hi-Fi Premium (option code SNDH)."

This is what I hated about the 488, it was nearly impossible to park easily. I had certain spots at places I went that I parked because it was easy to get in and out of. The position of the display in the car isn't nearly as much an issue as the inability of the camera to show low lying obstacles like parking stops and planters. The sensors also fail to show these kinds of obstacles. I had to replace a fin on my diffuser because the sensors didn't detect a low lying planter wall when I was backing slowly. In addition, the camera didn't show it either. The cost was $1700 including labor to replace one broken fin.

I have the surround view on the Portofino and the 812, parking is a breeze with the sharp and clear overhead views along with decent sensors all around. The position of the display isn't an issue but the location of the camera button is, it's just below the display and behind the wheel but it's only a minor annoyance, parking with confidence easily outweighs that.

The back up cameras on anything prior to the surround view really are not that good.
