Thanks for that. Looks like the one shown above is for a different (probably later) model. I use an Airflow battery tender, hard-wired to the battery, which is similar to the CTEK, and about one tenth the price of the Zivan. But not nearly as good looking!!

Not sure if it’s the same as on the 575, but maybe try here:

The car should acknowledge that the charger is connected, and (on my 612 at least) will prevent the engine from starting if it’s connected.

It’s a standard MIL type connector, which is excellent quality, but the Zivan chargers are garbage. Very unreliable and if connected for prolonged periods will wreck your battery. I just wired up my Ctek clone to one of these plugs.

John- The Zivan chargers were optional on 550s starting in 97/98 as part of the Scaglietti options. The kit included the charger, case, book, and connector (at least for the 575) in the engine compartment near the radiator hose. Here is an image from the catalog and it is listed in the brochure. Ideally, you would want to buy the connector so it was easy to plug in. They were never particularly reliable, but the case is pretty. My case holds a CTEK.

Have not seen too many 550 versions, so not sure if it came with alligator clips instead of a connector.

Can anyone share with me the pinout of the 4 pin connector to the 3 pin?

I don't think anyone has any diagrams for these.

The 575 WSM shows the optional adaptor (4-way inline plug to 4(?) way circular plug)

I assumed it was 4 way/pin because the 430 Scud has a circular 4-way plug with one pin not used.

Looking at the connector on the 575 in the first graphic, I don't know how the pins are oriented.

The 360 diagrams show an inline plug (perhaps the other end of the adaptor).

If you can see the wire colours, that would probably tell you how it was wired up.
    N (black) = earth
RB (red white) = safety circuit (dash light and start inhibit relay)
    R (red) = fuse and/or battery.

Interesting. I wrongly assumed the plug would have 4 pins. It's odd that that Ferrari fitted a 3 pin plug on their small adaptor when they could have used a 4 pin plug identical to the Zivian charger 4 pin plug.

I'll try to add this to my diagrams if we can get more data on the wiring.

Would you have a closeup of the keyways on the 3 pin Zivian plug?

It should be possible to figure out the functions of the pins on the 3 pin plug on the car.

With the battery not in cutoff…

    1) use a voltmeter to check which pin is the battery pin. Look for 12 volts. Make sure the ignition is off (but battery connected). Put the black test lead on a suitable earth.
    2) check the resistances on the other two pins (to chassis earth). The earth wire will be close to zero ohms. The other “safety” wire may have an open circuit (it depends on the internals of the instrument panel).

If the car plug has no markings, use the big keyway between the A and C pins as a reference.
