This post is why I am looking for a Cali T when I can afford a 458 Spider. ;)

I've driven both and preferred the Cali T.

So, what facets of the T has led you to prefer it over the spider?

Just super comfy and easy and the wife loves it and she actually drives the thing. It's like a private jet whereas the 458 is like a fighter jet and she's never really fully relaxed in it when we go on a run. Of course, the 458 is an all time masterpiece but the Cali T is just so easy to take somewhere and yet it can still turn into a beast in the canyons if you want it to do so. The 458 is a toy, the Cali T a car!

Why is there so much dissonance between what owners think of the Cali and the motoring press ?

I believe a Cali will be MUCH easier to live with, which is why I have changed my hunt from a 458 SPider to a Cali T. :)

Currently on the hunt for white over red leather!!!!!!

That's worth it's own thread! Lol.

You want to see dissonance, go into the V12 or mid V8 forums & ask that question!

I think some of the knocks originated in the first gen Cali - too soft, butt is too big, not sporty enough, Galifornia, and my personal favorite "the hair dresser's Ferrari." ☹️ The last is alas true, since my wife cuts my hair and she loooooves our Cali! To their credit, F stepped up and made the 30 and T gen Calis more sporty. For the money, given the reliability, and the ability to go coupe/spider in 14 secs, if you're a first timerinterested in jumping into the Ferrari lifestyle, I can't see a better option than the Cali / Porto. But, I'm biased!

I saw the California T as the only way for me to get into Ferrari ownership, at least until the F12 comes down to <$150k. :)

A depreciated Cali is the smartest way into Ferrari ownership!!!! :)

Which makes it so interesting cause we have a 458 Spider too and to me even the original Cali 30 was drop dead gorgeous when I first saw it. People can knock the Cali T all they want-it's not entry level anything-it's a pure Ferrari all the way around, period. Best all around every day Ferrari short of F12 imho.

Agree ... awesome car , have put 7k miles in 6 months as my daily and she has been a blast. My only “complaint” is how smooth she is and how easily she creeps from 70-80mph into way illegal speeds like nothing ever happened! Gotta watch speedo and thank God for my built in Escort :) Today I put 100 miles on some mountain roads and can also attest to the fact that IMO the Cali T has wonderful carbon ceramic brakes, best of any car with cc brakes I have owned. Hope we all continue to enjoy our ownership

On one of our first drives, the wife noticed how much smoother the F-car is at 90+ mph than dawdling around in stop and go traffic. Doesn't stop her from nagging me about my speed though!
