Listen man- why are you quoting some random dude. I hate the Pista. It sucks. I only drive it in auto mode and it’s the worst car I’ve ever owned.

Stop quoting things that are not relevant to the discussion. We are talking about how crappy the Pista is. Let’s stick to the subject and not try to go off on tangents with quotes and such.

It appears he quoted you on May 4, 2020 agreeing with Caeruleus11 that the Pista is an under-rated car and that you added "Every time I take mine out I'm blown away."

So he's pointing out that it seems you've changed your mind drastically in 30 days.

I think there may be an element of sarcasm in his recent posts above.

Sarcasm is often misinterpreted when in print.
I would venture to state that there is a close to universal consensus that the Pista is at the top echelon of super cars. But my query was sincere in view of that fact. Why are so many for sale? I know some are flippers who misconceived that they could make a quick profit. But what about the others.

My take on the number of pistas available compared to speciales is that the new pistas are still looking for their long-term homes. my guess is that after a couple years, the number available on the second hand market will come closer to parity as a function of units per total produced.

that, or it's because the pista is basically a tarted up bentley.

Where do you want to start?

    Flippers
    Pandemic
    Pista Spiders

I bet many people bought Lussos got hosed and then hoped to recoup the difference from the Pista and perhaps got in over their heads. Some may have stretched and now with recent issues they are better off to sell. Some also got Spider allocations and dont want 2 of these. Some perhaps were expecting something different which is odd considering all of the reviews. You will see the dust settle as it did with the Speciale which btw are sitting indefinitely right now.

Data is not up to date. They are sitting unless the deal is too good to pass up. I've been looking. I have my eye on a couple right now.

You are essentially describing most Ferrari's. Nothing unique here; TDF, 16m's, SA's, etc are all down and QC has been an issue since I can remember. Let's try again.

I think a significant Pista-only issue is the sheer number of cars painted incorrectly (not according to order) and the number requiring a respray and I believe there are only 3 Ferrari certified shops in the USA that can do this re-work.

I am referring to paint problems with the Pista have been rather unexpected and dissimilar to the past, much more than reported on this site.

For instance, the sheer number of cars that arrived painted different than what was ordered or actual bald spots without paint. I am referring to dealer issues handled directly with the factory.

Yes, Ferrari uses Zanasi but does not pay them to do perfect paint jobs and the quality is such that "paint correction" is a regular thing, that is not unique to Ferrari of course and not my reference.

I am not surprised by that choice, whoever has a Challenge Stradale knows that it is a legendary car.

Just thought I’d update this conversation.
Looking at DuPont Registry only and only in US/Canada, cars listed for sale:

Lots of those are duplicates the last time I checked. Even at 30, certainly higher. I think this will balance out over time.

I suspect it will always be at least a 2:1 ratio based on the number of cars that were produced.
