I'm sorry, but if they flat out fire Binotto, they are morons. He should be allowed to return to his previous position and maintain his salary.
I agree with you, and they should bring a strong personality as team manager, I do not know Antonello Coletta to know if he is the one.
Antonello Coletta, as I understand it runs the GT programme. Ferrari's GT programme is credible but limited. Semi-works, or rather well supported customer cars, running in the GTE class. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong ? These cars fight for class wins rather than outright endurance racing championships. We haven't won Le Mans since 1965. That's not Antonello's fault, but he hasn't competed and established a track record at the top level. He might, for all we know, be fantastic as F1 TP, but it would be a huge gamble.
Sorry but I have been reading the Italian motorsport press for 20 years on and off, spent 6 months in Modena in 2006 and I trust Autosprint, Rombo, La gazzetta dello sport, ansa (national press agency) but this Oasport I never heard of. The Italian press outside of those I mention carries rumors all the time. It is not him they need to fire but to find a manager above him.
They are now dumb enough to sack a guy who has SF in his blood, but the reality is you cannot go back down the ladder. The old saying " be careful as you climb the ladder, you never know who you will meet on the way down" holds true. Still as a previous poster nicely summed up -Merc will adopt him and he can then divulge the mysterious loss of power so they can then enhance it and become legal to the FIA Tony
That would be ideal but nobody with such a high profile accepts being demoted to his previous position. You either fire him or send him to some obscure office to do an irrelevant job. Also you would have to demote somebody below to make room for him, that would be like a kick in the balls for the crew.
Maybe some of the crew deserve a kick in the balls ? At the moment Ferrari are kicking my balls every weekend
Accoring to Spanish sports daily Marca this morning, Binotto may soon be ousted and replaced by Antonello Coletta. Coletta was formerly head of Corse Clienti. Marca usually has great F1 sources. The buck stops with the head of the team, so why not a change? The SF1000 is a disaster. Driver management has been a disaster. Either right the ship or pull out of F1 and redirect resources elsewhere.
Maybe when talking about Spanish drivers, but for the rest not too much. In this case they´ re just quoting Il Corriere.
Ferrari needs a strong hand. Binotto can come back to play with gadget, but he does not have the skills to drive SF. Dennis is not a bad idea.. or somebody like him...
They are good at the F1 game, so does it matter whether they are quoting Il Corriere or whether they are hearing about Binnoto sack from the same sources as Il Couriere? Marc Gene and lots of Spaniards or Spanish economic interests connected to Ferrari
Difficcult to fire him and lose a good engineer, he could head his own department but its a demotion in anyone's language. Unfortunately he has responsibility for the team and has to answer the difficult questions, the problem is the technical boffins in charge of aero, engine and chassis. Mekkies was appointed by Arrivabene so if he isnt going to get the axe, he needs to wield it first. Resta has only just gone back so possibly has had little influence and the engine guy has done a good job but was trumped by the FIA. For me i would keep Binotto to ensure stability within the team, promote confidence and get Coletta (if he has the credentials) to re- organise
Having just finished Lauda’s biography, I am of the opinion that Dennis has one serious problem. He’s a massive ****. In his defence, he was an effective ****, in his day. Would he be again ? Don’t know, again, a big gamble. Todt and/or Brawn would be great but they have what we Brits would call ‘cushy numbers’ at the FIA and Liberty. To be honest my ideal would be that Binotto steps up and drags us back from the abyss. I think regulations make this almost impossible. The rules against testing as beyond stupid. Ok we have our own track, but.. If the Ferrari owners club can hire Silverstone for a track day, it shouldn’t be beyond the reach of any F1 team. So just put the driver in the car, like Niki or Michael did, and pound the track 24/7 until the ****ing car works. Why should this be in any way illegal ? It’s much more ‘human’ than the teams with the the best ‘quants’ and the best computers/simulators maintaining their superiority from their underground data centres.
90% of the problem is the rules, once ahead (mercs) its nigh impossible to catch up without testing or a rule change. the remaining 10% of the problem is simulations and software thats to heavily relied upon. Tony
Agree 100%. The ban on testing is beyond stupid. Either they let teams test, or Ferrari should just walk. Maybe best to walk and let the whole friggin circus collapse on itself?
He has a similar budget plus free engines and in the current formula they have done worse than Ferrari. But people always expects more from Ferrari than from anybody else.
I don´t know how reliable Il Corriere Della Sera is about Formula 1, but I´ve read Marca for long enough to know that they´re like broken clocks: they´re right only two times per day.
