California T instrument panel relacement

So the saga goes on - no one especially dealer knows what to do to fix my alternator light being on constantly - they now say I need to buy a new panel for 10 grand plus have it flashed by them. I think I could get a used Cali T panel . Does anyone know if I installed a good used on could I simply plug & play or would it have to be flashed for my particular car ? Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated . Thanks james
